I am 43 years old, wife, mother of 4. A few years ago I lost 30 pounds and started jogging, too, for the first time in my life. I worked out several hours a day and was in great shape...until I injured myself, stopped exercising, kept on eating...it's been a while now and I can't stand it!
I have finally started working out again regularly and hopefully I can regain control!
Eat right, take care of myself, rest, exercise ...feel in control again.
-walk 136 miles to Charlottesville (virtually)
-walk 870 miles to Missouri (virtually)
I live in Virginia with lots of family close by. We spend a lot of time together. Between me and my kids we have a constant slew of pets...currently including 2 Bernese Mountain Dogs, 2 cats, a hamster, a Quaker parrot, betta fish...a house without kids and pets might be clean but not much fun! My diet downfall is baking...I love it.

Hey thanks for the goodies! I like it so much! I enjoyed my walk and have to shop this weekend some time. WE can do this! I don't measure how far, just time spent...30 min to 1 hour a day is good for me. I will be changing my route (in case of stalkers, among other things) and it will keep exercising fresh.
The reason I don't care about miles is b/c the news says 30 min./day not miles or anything. I am really looking forward to karate next summer.

RE: the walking, just do whatever is comfortable for you. Get a pedometer, your new best friend. Nothing spurs you on like the tiny number you see, and the desire to reach your goal in steps.
My goal is 15,000 steps daily with 10,000 steps aerobic. I manage to do that and more most days but I still have the days where I just can't seem to get motivated to walk. Plus I am having problems finding shoes that fit and last a while. Wal-mart's is not the place to buy good walking shoes, they don't last long enough. I actually wore out a pair in about 2 weeks! Sheesh. And I bought shoes according to what I read but my toes get tired before I do. So pay attention to your feet and buy them a good pair of walking shoes. I am going to visit Gander Mountain and see what is available there.
If you have a recommendation, please feel free to make it. Other than that, I wish you good fortune and much luck in walking away this excess baggage we seem to have picked up somewhere.
