The Hokie Skeptic

I am looking for a new perspective on my weight and health. I have been losing weight by one means or another over the last 8 years. In that time, I have learned a lot about myself, and I have learned a lot about the processes of weight loss.

I have weighed as much as 315 lbs, back in 2003. By 2007-2008, I weighed in the 220's. But throughout the various weight loss programs over those years - Spark chief among them - I measured my health by every metric except satisfaction ...

But throughout the various weight loss programs over those years - Spark chief among them - I measured my health by every metric except satisfaction with my own life. Between 2008 and 2010, my life took some interesting turns, leading me to some of my lowest points. Over the course of the past year (writing now in September 2011), I have learned an enormous amount about what makes me tick as a person. I've thought a lot more about what will make me happy in my life - happy today, not tomorrow after I reach some goal. Now I'm trying to apply what I have learned while being physically healthy at the same time.

You can look at my ticker to see what I have weighed in 2011. I'm not very close to the 220 range anymore. But I'd rather be heavy with the mindset I have now than 220 the way I was before. I'm checking in again with SparkPeople to see if I can use it in a better way this time, maintaining my new perspective while still creating a healthier life for myself.

Hiya, just seeing if cutting down on those white foods has helped any. As for me, I need to stop going out for beer emoticon

Hey Hokie,
I haven't heard from you in a couple weeks. Is everything all right?
