Getting the Athlete Back
Hi I'm Miriam, I used to be a top level college athlete. And when I stopped playing my sport I gained a lot of weight, developed chronic foot pain (in the form of plantar fasciitis), and generally felt no desire to play sports. I'm trying to get back to that "I'm in shape to do anything" mode again. Longest distance run: 20 miles (Race - Eastern States 3.28.10) Upcoming races (plus lots more tentatives) 5.30.2010 Pineland Farms 50k (trail race) ...

My Goals:
My goals: -Weight down to 150 lbs -Be able to run 10 miles comfortably again. (DONE!) -Get in a habit of stretching regularly (something I didn't do as an athlete and paid for in injuries) -Do at least one race a month (running, rowing, triathlon... whatever) -Run a marathon! -Do all this without my husband worrying that I'm taking unhealthy shortcuts
My Program:
-Writing down everything I eat (to make me more aware of the snacking) -Running/Walking/Hiking 75 miles a month minimum -Minimum 1 yoga class or DVD a week -Slipping in some extra exercise between hectic work and schoolwork schedule. -Getting back to eating healthy all the time. -Get out to climb and hike and play with the hubby and pup
Personal Information:
Originally from Ontario, Canada. I went to a school in Massachusetts on a full rowing scholarship (I used to be good :p ). On weekends I used to hike in New Hampshire. One weekend, while on a 23 mile hike I met my now-husband. So after graduation I moved to NH to be with him. I currently work as an engineer and do part time grad school in Plastics Engineering. Other Information:
I love to read, I'm a huge fan of John Irving. I also love inspiring sports movies like Miracle. I live with my husband, a high energy standard poodle and two cats in a little house in rural New Hampshire.
