Hi I'm Miriam, I used to be a top level college athlete. And when I stopped playing my sport I gained a lot of weight, developed chronic foot pain (in the form of plantar fasciitis), and generally felt no desire to play sports.

I'm trying to get back to that "I'm in shape to do anything" mode again.

Longest distance run: 20 miles (Race - Eastern States 3.28.10)

7.11.2010 Boilermaker 15k (an excuse to visit my friend Lindsey!)

My Goals:
My goals:
-Weight down to 150 lbs
-Be able to run 10 miles comfortably again. (DONE!)
-Get in a habit of stretching regularly (something I didn't do as an athlete and paid for in injuries)
-Do at least one race a month (running, rowing, triathlon... whatever)
-Run a marathon!
-Do all this without my husband worrying that I'm taking unhealthy shortcuts

My Program:
-Writing down everything I eat (to make me more aware of the snacking)
-Running/Walking/Hiking 75 miles a month minimum
-Minimum 1 yoga class or DVD a week
-Slipping in some extra exercise between hectic work and schoolwork schedule.
-Getting back to eating healthy all the time.
-Get out to climb and hike and play with the hubby and pup

Personal Information:
Originally from Ontario, Canada. I went to a school in Massachusetts on a full rowing scholarship (I used to be good :p ). On weekends I used to hike in New Hampshire. One weekend, while on a 23 mile hike I met my now-husband. So after graduation I moved to NH to be with him.

I currently work as an engineer and do part time grad school in Plastics Engineering.

    you lived in cow country Fremont??? I went to school with people Fremont at Sanborn regional High. I never knew why they called it cow country Fremont, but I guess that name just stuck from maybe way back when in the 1800's. Hee, Hee,

    Hi, haven't heard much from you for a while. I am getting ready for this year's monster erg (Feb 6, 2011) and you made a comment on my blog last year. I see you are also a snow-shoe-er. I just started snow-shoeing this year, our local ski hill has free ladies day on Thursdays, and I think it is a great way to get outside and do some cardio and I just love, love, love the mountains !!!

    well he obviously likes to do these things that you have exposed him to and would probably continue to do them with friends that like them too. . It would be great if he could find some friends that focus on other things. Maybe have a talk with him and tell him the only way out of this downward spiral is to get different friends who don't do those things so he won't be tempted to continue in the way he has been. I'll add him to my prayer list and you Mom and Dad too!
