The First Step Towards Getting Somewhere is to Decide That You Are Not Going to Stay Where You Are.

My first time around with Spark People motivated me to go back to school and lose 30lbs. Spark People also encouraged me to have more confidence in myself & go back to college (finally graduated May 2014). Although, I did gain back 12 pounds that I'd lost (over the 2 and a half year period while I was in school). I'm back now working on that again. My Goal is to Get down to 125lbs and maintain that for a lifetime of healthy living.

I hope that you feel better soon! Your plans sound so exciting. What will you be studying? Good job on thinking about what it'll take to have support without being overwhelmed. If your experience is anything like mine, you will feel overwhelmed - we used to laugh that we used the constant anxiety as a tool - but feeling it and allowing yourself to be it are two different things. Jump in with both feet, learn all you can, and make friends with people who share your goals. I hope that your experience is like mine was - a crazy ride and also a wonderful, life-changing experience.

Thanks for the blog comment, and Yep, I track my steps (and other stuff) with a fitbit one. It's my second one....I find it very motivating! But I think if cost is an issue, you can get an Omron pedometer at a fairly reasonable price that counts steps as well. They just don't track the other stuff (miles, stairs, sleep), but you may not need that ability.

So happy to see your excited for a new year just like me. I happy every day I wake up that I have another day to live the life I want and the freedom to do so. We are alike you know free spirits.
I live in Arlington Washington and have a house in the Tri Cities (Kennewick) in Southwestern Washington. I used to work at the Chemical Depot there in Oregon at Hermiston. So when they started the hot burn of the weapons I decided I needed to stay home in Washington.
I wish you a very Happy New Year. Stay positive and stay strong.
Sandy

HI Jane!

We LOVED The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies! My DH is a serious avid fan of JRR Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and The Hobbit. He got me interested and before the first Lord of the Rings was released, I read all of the books - except for the Hobbit. We have seen all of the movies and Peter Jackson has done another bang up job! We read the reviews before going to see it and they were lukewarm at best so I wasn't over-excited before seeing it. But, we both really loved it! I would definitely recommend seeing it.

I'm so sorry that you have some type of bug! My DH's son and his girlfriend both had the stomach for about a week and they are finally feeling better now. Also my Mom & Dad had some type of stomach and/or flu bug and are just now getting over it. Whatever is going around is not fun for sure! I hope going for a walk didn't give you a relapse.

I spoke with my Mom & Dad when we came home and they sounded good but tired. It is a hard time to go through with aging parents. My prayers for your parents to stay healthy!

HAVE A WONDERFUL, HAPPY & HEALTHY NEW YEAR!!!!
