Hi My name is Holly and I am 48 yrs old and have been with Spark People for over a year! What a year it has been. I never thought I could really lose 40 lbs when I started one year ago but I was going to give it a good try. Well here we are one year later and I have gone past my original goal of 36 lbs and have lost a total of 45 lbs! Thanks to all the wonderful people that I have met along the way and have cheered me on to lose the weight and to provide the support. Somehow I feel like I can't let my friends down on this site which then spurs you on to go exercise if you are thinking twice about it. Let's keep up the great work my wonderful spark friends, together we can do anything!
Goals for 2014 The get in gear run 5K in April. The color run 5k in July Sign up for the Medtronic 5K in October. Let's do it!
My goal was to lose weight, and to get in great shape. Now my new goal is to run my third 5K in the Spring and then sign up for another. I can run for the first time in my life. Spark people has helped me lose over 40 lbs. I plan on traveling all over the world as time permits so I want to be in the best shape possible to climb stairs and ruins no matter where we go.
Cardio at least 6 days a week for 45 mins to an hour. I have come to love exercise and look forward to it and really do think of it as "me time". I will add in more strength training this year and continue to train for another 5K. Inclines on the treadmill are great workouts so I will add them in on non run days as well as the elliptical.
I live in St. Paul Minnesota and work at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis MN as an MRI technologist and the supervisor of the department. I have been married for 28 years to a wonderful man that is extremely supportive no matter my size or weight. He has always loved me for me! I have sparked him as well to watch what he eats and how much, he is not as crazy about it as I am but baby steps are great!
I have 2 beautiful daughters. My oldest will be starting her senior year of college and my youngest is a freshman in college. They are both naturally thin girls and I am so glad that they inherited their fathers metabolism! They are very supportive of me and my healthy life style change and willing to try new recipes as long as they aren't too crazy. Of course, these are girls that grew up eating octopus and squid so they are pretty brave eaters!
thanks for stopping at my blog..was in your town this week...I feel so badly that your side street's done get plowed....LOL I imagine it's the shear about of traffic that makes it so hard. If you and I both order warmer weather...maybe maybe..the order will go thru...hahaha We live 3.5 hours north of you Have a great weekend.
Hi there, sorry so slow in responding -- I seem to be all over the place these days! But yes, Toronto is having a very cold and snowy and icy winter this year. It is not usually quite so cold, since we benefit from the 'lake effect' being so close to Lake Ontario. This year that darn lake just isn't doing it's job and we have been inundated with severe cold and storms!! It is almost impossible to get to our car these days, what with the two-inch sheet of ice clinging desperately to all of the stairs and the walk leading to our car park out back! But it's not all bad of course. Last weekend I had just the best time sledding with my daughter in a park that's just 2 min. from our house. She is a true Canadian, unlike my Yankee-born self, and she thinks of a snowy park as her personal playground. Hope you're having a terrific week and keeping sparky! Lee
