Update: January 21, 2013--I am trying to get back on track after a year of falling off the tracks due to personal problems, family illness, and family passing away. (And my resulting emotional eating and loss of exercise time.) I am on my way back to a healthy body and fitness for life. Though I have tried other plans and had temporary success, Spark People is my ticket to permanent change. I like to take walks, hike, fish, take pictures, paint, write and enjoy quiet contemplation. My ultimate goal is 170 pounds lost. My plan of action is to track everything I eat, do 30 minutes or more of exercise every day and try to help others learn what I have learned. I love to eat a wide variety of delicious and healthy food, with a little fun food thrown in for good measure. I do not consider myself to have been deprived of anything. I enjoy working out at the gym, and generally enjoying life. If you are looking for a panacea, Spark People is not it--but it is a great and exciting program to change your life if you will really apply all the tools available here.
Lose 5% of body weight during Winter 1 2011 Challenge, exercise consistently, ultimately lose 170 lbs.
Using the nutrition tracker, watching total calories, exercising daily, drink 8 glasses of water, reading motivational pages. Have added protein shakes to my program and they are helping.
Married, live in SW MO and teach college classes online.
