Ethaniel's Journey
As the title says this is a journey in which I hope to become healthier and fitter. My main goal is to lose the weight that I gained by being a lazy student. I would spend a lot of time just sitting down. My biggest realisation about how unfit I was becoming was when it took a whole week for me to get my "hiking legs" on a holiday to Austria in 2008. Normally I would need a day or two and then I would be fine, but I really struggled and realised what the problem was. So I was determined to do something, watching my mum struggle with her weight problems and her always telling me it was better to sort it now while I still could. So I started to eat more as previously I wasn't eating enough to fill me up and would end up buying junk to fill me up. Then I began to eat more and still buy the junk so the weight didn't go anywhere. Of course I weighed myself could see the pounds add up but looking at my body I couldn't see where they were going. My belly was the same size it always was. I stayed that way until I found SparkPeople in the summer of 2009. I took some measurements and found a lot of fat had gone on my hips which I hadn't noticed at all. I also realised I had more weight to loose then I had first thought. Checking my BMI and seeing it at around 24.5 shocked me, I was nearly considered overweight and I didn't think I looked it at all. So it started well then lulled as most things do and then started again. When I did loose some weight I could see where it had been, just above my belly and a little higher as well as on my back. No wonder I hadn't been able to see the fat I knew was somewhere. Of course it came back as I have trouble sticking to my new lifestyle but I'm gradually improving. My other goals involve fitness in general. Since I was very young I have always wanted to run a marathon I don't know why I just did. I'm beginning to train in long distance running so that some day I will complete that goal. I also want to have some muscle definition not a lot just something that actually shows I have muscles so I'm lifting myself as I don't have any weights at university and I'm still heavier then any weight I have lifted so far.
