Do Over

I'm doing over. Last year (2010) the doc said eat better and get some exercise or you'll be in big trouble, so I did... for a while. Then around Thanksgiving the stress got to me and I fell off the better eating/exercise wagon. Gained 5 lbs after having lost 35. So, I am asking for a do-over. My new goal is 20 lbs. Gosh, from where I started it seems so small, but mentally it will probably be the toughest. But here goes.

God says I'm a new creation (2 Cor 5:17), so I'm trying to live like one. I started this trip after my doctor said that I needed to eat better and exercise or I'd be in big trouble. So, the first thing I did was talk to my Father about it.

I've had rheumatoid arthritis since 1993, but thankfully it's under control right now. However, having it presents some problems with exercise. Anything that is too repetitive is creates a problem in the joint that takes months to overcome. So far dancing seems to provide a good workout without stressing anyone joint too much.

I remember my siblings and me getting a chick or duck for Easter, too. They were dyed in Easter colors. Later it was found that the dye was toxic for the chicks and ducks. Although a few did survive. Rooster are of a mean nature. Some more than others. I guess God makes them that way to keep the hens and chicks in line. lol My Granny always had chickens. She loved them. I guess that is where I get that from. lol She took such good care of her chickens. She usually had a couple dozen. She would sell the eggs. Her egg money always went back to the church to help buy goods for their bake sells or cloth to make aprons to sell for the church fund. She was such a loving and good person. I loved her so much. I miss her everyday. I never heard of anything eating chicken plants. You must live in the country. Maybe possums or skunks did it. We live near the Capital City of SC. We are near the river. So we do get possums. We have seen bobcats, deer, and foxes in the neighborhood. Lots of snakes. We kill some every year in the year. There is suppose to be gators in the river. I have never seen any. We have lived here 24 years. I don't swim in the river neither. Water Moccasins swim in the water. That we have seen. There is a large wooded acreage parcel surrounding our neighborhood. There are all kind of companies being developed here. So they are taking away these animals habitat. We are seeing less and less wild animals.

Thank you Hilda for you nice note and the SparkGoodie Watermelon. I just love watermelon. With my diabetes I am limited for how much I can eat. So we haven't bought one this year. So I really appreciate the Goodie. At least it won't bother my sugar. lol I hope you have a great summer, too. Hilda I notice the Highlands Scottish Cow Millie every time I come on your page. Do you raise them or is she a pet? She is so unusual and beautiful. She looks like very good stock. I grew up on a small farm. We had one cow and she had a calf. The cow's name was Pyed. We were poor, so when the calf grew up and was old enough he was slaughtered for food. I remember being very upset. That was the way of farm life. Pyed was a sweet cow. She would let us ride bareback on her. My grandpa would get so mad at us. He would tell us we were going to cause her to stop giving milk. She always did. We had her for many years. When my mother sold the farm Pyed was sold as well. I love animals. I always wanted chickens. We have never lived where that was possible. So for a substitute I planted the succulent plant called "Chickens", in a strawberry pot. I love how they multiply and tiny one appear. So much fun. Poor substitute for the real thing. lol
