Thank you for visiting my page! I'm glad you dropped by and I hope you'll take a few minutes to say "Hi" while you're here! I am excited to meet new friends and to hear about your journey as well. May we be able to encourage one another to better health- physically, mentally, and spiritually!

In brief:

Three things I hold dear to me: "MY Lord Jesus Christ, my husband (and family), and my espresso machine. :)

Not so brief:

I came to know the Lord in 1988 when a crisis in my marriage turned my heart to the One who could heal it. I placed my life in His hands, and He has been faithful to me ever since! That marriage of 22 years failed three years ago, but God has not failed and used those troubled years to grow my faith and character to become more like Christ. I experienced Him in ways I may not have without the trials! I can now say, "Thank you, Lord!"

Jeremiah 29:11-14a "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the LORD..."

He has since led me to meet my true soul-mate in January of 2011. We married 6 weeks later! Lol! That is a God written love story, and if you care to hear it, I will share it with you. God remains faithful, and His steadfast love endures forever. He gives grace and peace.

How I came to be a "Sparkler:"

"Now that I'm getting older (47)," and with the weight not so easy to lose (although my memory is another story!); Sparkpeople has helped me formulate meal plans and fitness goals as well as to motivate me to daily log in my data. Daily logging has taught me to not give up but with each new day to "begin again!"

I try to stay active by walking, running, and hiking either at home or preferably: ) the beautiful Smoky Mountains. A benefit of hiking the Smokies is that God consistantly surprises my darling and I with a glorious sunrise or sunset, a bear sighting ( ! ) bobcat, or deer, and so many flowers I can't begin to name them all (although I am taking pictures like mad to later identify...)

Side note: I'm also highlighting a map of the Smokies, marking the trails we've hiked together... it will be awhile before I get them all done... but it's a good goal!


One great benefit of being outside is that the sights and sounds of His creation are uplifting and the NC mountains: *BREATH-TAKING*!

More randomness:

I also enjoy kayaking, spending time with my awesome husband (of course-newlyweds!), listening to music (my darling man plays piano!), watching movies, baking, knitting, beading, painting, and reading.

We both have three grown children- each a boy and two girls from our previous marriages. They have been such blessings to us! My youngest is getting married this summer. :) That will make 4 of the children married, and two yet single. Grandchildren may be next! This is a wonderful time of life!!!

The randomnishes continues:

I am doing an oil painting of Sugar Loaf Mountain as seen in the fall.

I have trained for 5 Marathons and finished 3: Chicago twice-finished the first time('05) the second time it was cancelled ('07), St. Charles- once ('07)- the second time the race was cancelled because of weather(remnants of Hurricane Ike in '08), and Springfield Bass Pro Marathon('09). I enjoy the challenge of running long distances and the feeling of accomplishment afterwards.

I love Starbucks.

About the previously mentioned espresso machine: I will let you know up front- my husband and I are coffee snobs- but Christian ones! Lol! Ummm... enjoying "higher grounds?" :)

I'm pretty sure there will be coffee in heaven.

My Program:
-I'm seeking to glorify God by allowing Him to mold and shape me as He sees fit. It's not just our physical shape that needs a good workout, but our spiritual shape is extremely important! To become spiritually fit requires surrender and obedience to God...sometimes not easy but always best in the long run! :)
As a means to getting into shape spiritually, my husband and I read our Bibles and pray together- we give our days and lives to God!

-Physical shape: My husband and I work out together when we can. It helps to have a workout partner. I'm head over heals in love with mine :)

Other helps: I keep track of my workouts and try to log what I eat. I can get a good idea that way what I need to work on and what I have accomplished. One of my downfalls is that my husband and I love eating chips and snacks in the evening.. : /



Personal Information:
We are recently married and I have moved to a new state! Everything is new, new, new to me! I'm enjoying this season in my life!

I have three children, and my husband has 3 children- all are grown and living in various parts of the US! Looking forward to traveling in the future!
