Goal: 6 pack abs like an HGtv host

After years of kind-of, sort-of dieting, I am finally taking control of my weight and taking control of the way I look. Next step: superstardom.

This year, my sister is getting married and I am a groomsman in the wedding. My weight was at an all time high, my clothes were all getting tight, and I knew I needed to do something. As I was thinking about what to do, a candid photo of me was published in the local newspaper. I was horrified to see myself - a full page image of my stomach trying to burst through the buttons of my shirt. In the accompanying article, I sound cool - but I look like a complete slob.

It was time to get serious about my health. I started working out 5 days a week, but after three weeks this I'd only lost two pounds. I would like to pretend that I was gaining muscle, but my clothes weren't getting any looser! So I started thinking about tv talk shows. Every time they show someone who needs to more than a hundred pounds, he is scarfing down an entire bucket of fried chicken and explaining that he "really doesn't eat very much." I decided I must be a miniature version of that guy, so I found Spark.

It's great so far. I'm really losing weight, and learning for the first time ever just how quickly my calories add up. I'm also discovering that many supposedly healthy foods are loaded with calories. I really miss covering everything in cheese, but most of the changes have been easy to make.

As of this writing, I have lost ten pounds. I don't know what my goal will be yet. My doctor would like me to lose another 13. I think I will lose another three, then have my body fat percentage professionally measured at my gym, and have a trainer help me set a goal based on my body fat instead of the scale.

When I'm at the gym, I watch a lot of HGtv. The male hosts are almost always muscular and thin - like models with power tools. I already have the power tools, I just need the 6 pack abs to go with them.
