Welcome to my Sparkpage!

I'm a newbie who joined on 07/20/11 PST or 07/21/11 EST. Been struggling with my health being asthmatic from childhood. Gained ~ 60 pounds over a 6-month period while on medication for severe headaches about 11 years ago. Throughout the years I've lost between 12 to 15 pounds, but gained it all back and more. I fault myself for not being able to give priority in this important area of my life, to improve my health and well-being.

Gained ~ 60 pounds over a 6-month period while on medication for severe headaches about 11 years ago. Throughout the years I've lost between 12 to 15 pounds, but gained it all back and more. I fault myself for not being able to give priority in this important area of my life, to improve my health and well-being.

Part of the problem of committing to a health and fitness program for any length of time to see results, is due to having moved 6 times, changed jobs 5 times, and still taking classes for 7 years straight. Also, I have a hard time bouncing back into a fitness program after learning that a relative or friend passes away (lost an uncle, cousin, aunt, grand-aunt, and brother recently).

Lastly, I recently came to the realization that getting into physical shape and fitness (meaning not being excessively overweight or obese) is not about physical appearance, but for optimizing one's health. God knows why I was put in this situation, and I've learn a great deal through the years. Being in this situation with my back against the wall is humbling, and I have compassion for others with the same struggles.

Praying for improved health, the ability to commit to this health and fitness program, achieve good results, and for God to use me to help inspire others to meet the challenge.

I was born in a foreign, non-U.S. land, and came to the U.S. in 1990, then chose to become a U.S. Citizen.

Truly believing that "home is where the heart lies."

Other Information:
Skydived twice! ...just for the thrill and a reality check!

Played Chess competitively over a decade or so ago, and play mostly friendly games once in a blue moon now.

Plugged into a great local Christian Church! ...and a small Bible Study group!

Hi Swayde, thanks for dropping me a line. Hope all is well with you. My fitness program came to a halt last year and I gained back all the weight due to poor diet/nutrition and virtually no exercise. I'm married to my job and school... pretty sad. I plan to get going again soon, but it's not easy. I met a fitness buddy once but she has a family and is busy too... will have to go it alone, but it's a battle with competing priorities. How have you been doing?
