As for the gym . . . I'd talk to the PT to see if she has any recommendations on where to start and anything you should avoid (don't want to cause any setbacks). Then, start slowly and build slowly. Is there anything in particular that you enjoyed at the gym? I would probably start with whatever that is.
And drink LOTS of water!
