Pushing 40 & Pushing Myself To Get Happy, Healthy, & Fit!

I've been overweight and out of shape for 21 years. I've been crabby and cranky about it every step of the way too, but did it help me lose weight? Heck no! I'm not going to say I was ALWAYS miserable, but it weighed on my mind constantly. Haha...weighed on my mind. Pun intended...I guess? I've recently learned that life is far too short to continue to live this muted existence simply planning what I'll do, and what I'll be, SOMEDAY when I've lost the weight.

Someday has arrived and there ain't no going back now!

I guess, I've come to realize as I've gotten older, that it's all in the mind. I am only what I believe I am and what I think I can do. I know now, that I can lose this weight and be happy doing it. No more negative Nelly here. No more worries about how I look or what people will think of me. I want to experience life and new things. I can't do that from my living room. So, it's time to change the way I've been thinking, feeling, and living.

It's time to kick the tires and light the fires! WooHoo!! Let's do this!!

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

**Update 10/27/10** I have always loved to run and dream of eventually running at least a half marathon if not an entire marathon. After being such a couch potato the last few years, I decided to get back to work at my goal once again, but found I needed to get better at walking before I could even think of running. The last month I have been walking my way through the C25K program and was finally able to start running again last night.

WooHoo!! I'm so happy. I know I've got a long way to go before I can be back to even running a 5k, but it's a start and it feels great! Today I changed my username from HelloFitKitty to HelloKittyRuns. I thought it was fitting and would serve to remind me of my goal whenever I log into SparkPeople.

Current Running Goals:
C25K - completed by 01/01/11
C210K - completed by 04/12/11
** Need help figuring out where to go after the 5k & 10k apps

My Goals:
I'm working really hard, but struggling a bit from time to time, to be the healthiest I've ever been by the time I turn 40 in April of 2012.

My Program:
Food:
I'm currently using the FatSecret app because it's on all my devices and has a barcode scanner. Talk about making life easy. I just wish it had a better name. I mean really...it ain't no secret I'm fat! :)

I'm staying right around 1700 calories a day and plan to lose about 1.5 lbs a week.

I'm doing my best to try new foods and eat healthier things in general. There are no foods I do not allow, but I know that personally, I cannot eat candy, chocolate or fast foods often. I go crazy and binge. :(

Fitness:
My long term goals are to run a 5k, a 10k and eventually a half marathon. I ran one 5k a while back, but that feels like a lifetime ago now.

I have a treadmill, an elliptical, an exercise bike, a Total Gym, and a punching bag. There is NO reason that I shouldn't be exercising!

Personal Information:
SAHM & wife, Hello Kitty Lover, Android convert, & a total music nut. I also enjoy photography, running, hiking, camping, the beach, and someday I want to learn to scuba dive.
