I set off to change myself for myself. I began with walking and learning about portion control. I have really changed my life especially in regard to fitness and healthier eating. I had an image in my head that real runners wore spandex and had beautiful bodies. It was my first race (5K) that changed my mind. The old, young, fat, thin and everyone in between was running and their efforts were cheered on by total strangers. Each time I run is a reminder that taking care of myself is important- physically and mentally.

Thanks for the comment on my blog the other day! I also discovered running as an adult. I understand, it's like, who knew I could like exercise so much? Hope we can be SparkFriends! :)

Thanks for the comment on my blog! The wool base layers we got were from Costco, made by Paradox. They are very light and breathable; I think they're intended mainly for skiers and snowboarders, but they sure did the job for us on this run. My legs never felt wet; I could feel the chill but wasn't cold at all, and I did not overheat. Hope you find something that works for you!

Thanks Heidi for commenting on my marathon training blog. Yes, the taper is my secret weapon. All that training while tired and in need of recovery. Then on race day you're fully rested and recovered. Can't wait! Thanks!
