My name is Heather. I am a 37 yo wife and SAHM I have been with DH for 15 years and married for 10.5 years and we have 2 miracle little girls together, ages 6 and 3.
I did fight with my weight through most of my life. I had my chubby and then thinner stages but was never skinny until... Until I started high school. I SOOOO wanted to be a cheerleader, even though I was a little chubby, I was in great shape and I could jump and flip but the coach wanted "Her girls," to be a a certain weight. That is where the eating disorder came in to play. Yes, I stopped eating anything but lettuce, celery, tomatoes and drinking for about 3 months by then I made the maximum cut for weight for the cheerleading team. Then the bindge & prudge came to play. The coach was still not happy, weigh ins were everyday before practice. So ife became bingeing and pruging every night and no food during the day, jsut water. Workouts were 2 hours per day (that did not include cheerleading workouts and practice). By Junior year I was 102 lbs, at my lightest and it was not pretty. Senior year, I left the squad and I started working on me and my health. at 19 I was back up to about 115 lbs and then I was dx with PCOS.
It seemd that no matter what I did the weight jsut came on and stayed on. My parents would not let me join a gym or diet because they were asfraid that I would slip back into the eating disorder again.
So at 22 I met my DH (I was about 150 then) and I got very comfortable and the weight started to pack on again. Whe I got engaged, about 2.5 years later I was nearly 190 lbs. I did start the gym and managed to hover between 180-190 for my wedding.
Well, then we started to try to have a baby and my PCOS did not let that happen so we started fertility treatments, that jsut packed the pounds on!! Between the fertility treatments, depression form losing my Dad and 4 babies, I plumped up to about 230. So I decided to go to Weight Watchers and start walking. In 3 months I was down to 210 and tried 1 last fertility treatment, which was a success. Through my pregnancy I only gained 17 lbs (GO ME!!!) Well, after having Adidson I slipped into such a PPD that it was scary. By Oct 1st I was 256lbs! (OMG!!) I started to do WW at home, alone. I lost 10 lbs but I knew that I needed support and that is when I rejoined and went to meetings.
Well I started WW at 246 in Dec of 2006. Everything was going well, but in July of 2007 I was getting bored with WW and knew that I needed a little something extra to help with my weight loss. I had read an article about SP and I came and joined, half expecting it to be a joke.
SP and my friends that I have made here really helped me through some rough times. I honestly think that I would have give up if it wasn't for SP!! Thank you all!!
** 4/10/12 ~ I fell so far off track with my weight loss and put almost all the weight back on. The past 18 months have been hard. Being robbed by a friend that was more like family, an ex-coworker of my hubby's trying to break up our marriage, the death of my brother, 2 miscarriages and a few other things sent me in a spiral of depression, stress and eating. I am DONE being FAT! I want my life back and am ready to fight for it!!
