I have been obese my whole life. Stopped weighing myself when I hit 280 at one point but am pretty certain that I was heavier than that. I have been obese my whole life. Stopped weighing myself when I hit 280 at one point but am pretty certain that I was heavier than that. I have a family history of heart disease and have battled high blood pressure myself. My grandmother died at 40 and Mom had her first bypass surgery at 42. She died in July 2006 after complications of her second surgery at the age of 55. It was to have been a quadruple bypass. So, when I turned 30 , I started freaking out. I've been accused of being obsessive at times but you can certainly understand why huh? I remain a work in progress but I am ultimately just trying to stay healthy. Although I've been pretty active my whole life, I still got fat. In 2001, I started working with a trainer & found the Body for Life program. I did that for several years along with just about every other diet on the planet. In 2003, I started Weight Watchers & lost a huge chunk of the weight that I was carrying. I made Lifetime in September 2006 (ironically after my Mom died) and maintained that for a couple years. I started working with a coach (Cathy Savage) in June 2007 and have been with her since. I've been able to break my plateau and am working to compete. I've also run 2 full marathons, a handful of half marathons & several other races ranging from 10 milers to 5K's. I am in contest preparation for my first figure show on May 3rd & then doing another on May 24th. Both are in Illinois. I've lost over 100 pounds & keep going as I continue on my journey to the stage. Now that show's are over, I've learned some lessons & am focused on living a healthy lifestyle.
