Road to a healthier me

Right now I am a stay at home mom to a beautiful 5 year old daughter. I am in the process of getting ready to have the gastric bypass done (hopefully in the next week or two).

I have always been on the heavy side according to all of the medical standards. When I was 21, I fell in a bathtub and chipped some of the bone in my knee. I have had issues being able to do things due to my knee and have made many more excuse I am sure. I have slowly gained weight from that point on. I was ...

I have always been on the heavy side according to all of the medical standards. When I was 21, I fell in a bathtub and chipped some of the bone in my knee. I have had issues being able to do things due to my knee and have made many more excuse I am sure. I have slowly gained weight from that point on. I was inactive and depressed but continued to eat like I was an active teenager.

I am now 36 with depression, thyroid issues, and arthritis in my knees. I have decided that the best option for me at this point and this weight to have WLS to basically save my life. I know that it won't be easy but I want to see my daughter grow up, get married, and have kids.

I wanted to thank you all personally for your kind comments and encouragement as I passed my 100 lb lost milestone - today in fact down 101 lbs. Today I have been hyperemotional - my tears turned this morning from pain to joy after I saw my pain Dr about my knee. Since seeing him I have been crying all afternoon everytime I think about how much good has come out of every challenge the last six months have given me. I have NO REGRETS and nothing but thanks to you for helping me feel like I mattered when I thought I didn't, and for teaching me it's okay to be honest, life's easier when you stay in the day. You all need to know, that you are beautiful, loved, and blessed by more people and in more ways than you can imagine - and that from the bottom of my heart, I am eternally grateful for having each and every one of you in my life.

For everything you've given me I will endeavor for all the days of my life to Spark It Forward in everything I do. Your friend always, "Sprink"

Please rewind your mind, you ARE NOT ONE IOTA OF A FAILURE, NOT A SMIDGE, TAD, OR MICROMEASURE. I'm going direct here - 57 lbs at three months is AWESOME for anyone to lose. You cannot compare your weight loss over time to anyone really because each body is unique, and your journey into a new healthy lifestyle isn't going got have a start and stop point - all I have is TODAY, all you have is TODAY - How you choose to see yourself and your place in the world, how you act and speak toward others, who you share your life with today all matters! It matters to me and far more people than you will ever realize. This kind of mental and soulful personal discovery takes time, real effort, and honest sharing of your life with those important to you.

You have been a friend and supporter of my life journey for months now - thank you - I sincerely appreciate all of my new SparkFriends. I cringed one day when someone inferred in a comment that SparkFriends aren't like or as good as real friends. I really hat to bite my tongue and not comment because frankly, not everyone "gets it" or uses Spark's Tools and the honest sharing betweeen friends to work past and achieve things never before considered possible.

You have to also learn to master the art of resparking yourself - and on occasion asking for help. My suggestion for you would be to introduce yourself to five new Spark Teams and make Ten New Spark Friends by the end of the week. Blog whenever you can - share as much or as little as you feel like - just connect with more SparkPeople. You and I are both capable of anything we set out go achieve or anywhere we want life's journey to take us - it all starts by believing in your God, yourself, and your journey. Hugs and Pickles,

Your friend, "Sprink"
