Getting Back to Myself

50+ y/o female looking for a hiking/walking buddy. Becoming more like my old self is a big goal. A combination of illness and accidents has left me with more than 50 extra pounds gained in just one year. Realizing how un-healthy this is is the easy part! Doing something about it is tough!

It took me a month to learn my way around this website. In my 2nd month, I set up a new hiking routine and lost 12 pounds! Month3, I ate my way thru San Francisco on a yummy trip. Gained 8 pounds and managed to lose it, but was at a standstill for Month 3. I'm just starting Month 4 and my doctor has challenged me to lose another 10 pounds. I know I can do it, but Life has a way of getting in the way. Here goes my BIG attempt to stay focused. BTW, I have met so many great people on line here who motivate me and keep me sane. Thanks to all of you!

Duh I just saw I sent a message to you that was supposed to go to Anika sorry. See I told you I have been out of sorts and tired.
Anyway Thank you for the spark goodie of balloons. I loved them and the thoughts and prayers help too.I am tired of being anemic and sleeping a lot. I know this too shall pass! Send some ca sunshine my way ok?

You are getting very little sleep and still running. I am impressed. I am getting way too much sleep and not moving at all. I have been a slug this week. I have decided if you can exercise with Finn I can drag my exhausted old bones out for a walk today! Wish me luck! Even my dogs have gotten lazy.lol

i know that 'this too shall pass', and i just need to keep repeating it in my head when it gets really tough...
can't wait for our big meeting in person in the fall (see, hopefull thinking can be powerful!)

I went to the gym today and spent 3 hours.....I did strength training, cardio, and then the best part...I went in the steam room, sauna, and jacuzzi!! I needed my dose of warmth....I ran 5 miles on Christmas and 5 miles yesterday....I still don't think it erased all the calories I ate on Christmas...but it was soooooo good!!

It sounds like your MIL might not be doing very well? I hope that is not the case but your comment suggested that. I will keep her in my thoughts....how are you doing? Did you enjoy the treadmill???
