It is time. It is past time. The time is NOW.... I am going to do this every day, every single day even if I fail during part of the day I will stop, drink some water and keep going. I am going to reach my goals of being healthy and fit. I will because I am worth the work, the determination, the challenges to make my life a better, happier and healthier one. I will love myself and take care of ME.

"I dont want to stare at the ceiling in a hospital room one day thinking, I wish I would have taken better care of myself and not allowed this to happen. Jason Anderson

The whole idea of motivation is a trap. Forget motivation.
Just do it. Exercise, lose weight, test your blood sugar, or whatever. Do it without motivation. And then, guess what? After you start doing the thing, that's when the motivation comes and makes it easy for you to keep on doing it.
-John C. Maxwell

I will incoperate food changes and exercises that I can readily do forever. I will do this by drastically cutting down or maybe eventually eliminating sugar other than from fresh foods. I also would like to eliminate wheat as it is known today nothing like what our grandparents ate.
I want to keep my physio exercises as a routine that becomes habit, and also get more strength training in.

A happy, healthy relationship with food and exercise is what I am aiming for.

A year from now you'll wish you had started today.

"It takes effort and belief to persevere and stay dedicated to accomplish your goal. When you find yourself doubting whether the effort is worth it, visualize how you will feel and what you will have once your goal is completed."

Feeling healthy and good about yourself is not an option, it is a necessity.

Part of the reason I wanted to do a 5K is to show you that YOU can do anything you set your mind to do. If a woman with herniated, degenerated disks, pinched nerves, bad knees, fibromyalgia, and arthritis can walk a 5K with a walker, YOU can take courage that you are capable of aiming for better every day. 2014 My word is BALANCE.... body, mind and spirit. I will take care and love myself in all aspects. I will work to make all 3 in balance and work towards a happier, healthier me.

This day is what you have to work with, no matter how much you could do yesterday, how much you may or may not be able to do tomorrow. That entails physical, emotional and of course our food!!

What can I do today that will make my tomorrow better? So knowing that I am trying to make each tomorrow better, today will incorporate moving, eating and thinking healthy with proper doses of both!

I want to lose this wt. to get healthier, to do all I can to not get cancer, to help my ruined knees and back last longer, to look and feel better about myself and to be able to pick up my grandkids and play with them.

When I just don't think I can I will re read Matts blog....

I can't believe that a new spark friend told me she is going to start her day with my page! OMG wow. I can't believe it and goes to show you that you never know what may help someone else.
I am honoured and also said that I have had a specific friend really say something to me that has stuck. Had to go back and remind myself countless times but still it is in my head.....What can I do today to make my tomorrow a better day!!!?? thanks BEMORESTUBBORN!

I think there is a theme with your goodies... I think self care must be a priority right now. Hmmm. I do NOT get on all fours and then get up... I keep my legs straight and plant my toes and then walk my hands towards my feet so my butt gets raised first. But saying that... I DO kneel. I started on the bed where it is very soft and now I can get on all fours on my mat. Is it your back that is stopping you from touching your toes? Thanks for the ball goodie. As I saw it I recalled that I used to sit on a ball at my computer and today's blog was about "chair exercises" so I might move it there today. Thanks! I do hope your knee improves. My knee was just a partial which is supposed to recover faster so you still have a couple of months to see changes. When I worked as an OT we used to used compression to help with swelling in the legs. Raise the foot or arm up and start wrapping a bandage snugly starting at the foot or hand and working towards the knee or elbow. Like squeezing the toothpaste from the end. Then the bandage would be taken off. It was important to keep the limb elevated the whole time and then some gentle exercises after the bandage was off, still elevated. It was never suggested for me in physio so I'm not sure it is a procedure done any longer.

Core exercises - there are a bunch on spark people's list that are for people with limited mobility so you can adapt them to be standing or in bed or holding onto things.... but the basic ones are:
-crunches (I do mine on a ball but I used to do them in bed)
-superman (I do mine on my bed...wee!)
-pendulum (again, I do mine on my bed)
-plank or modified plank (I do mine on a ball)
-pushups (I was doing them against the wall but now on the ball)
-skater squats
-forward lunges (I hold onto the counter and work on bending the back leg)
-calf raises

I think it is important to figure out how to get down tot he floor and back up again. I am very lucky as I am flexible and can touch the ground with my legs straight... so I can get roll onto my front, plant my toes and walk my hands towards my feet with my butt in the air until I can bend my knees and curl up to standing. SP shows doing knee to chest for ST if you can't get onto the floor for example. Good luck knee buddy!

I like your background picture. It is like the poster I have on my wall that says "There is a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you di it only when circumstances permit. But reading yours made me shake my head because I am always forgetting what I tell myself I am going to commit to. It made me think and ask myself what that is for today. And with that thought... going to go get more water!
