I've been a member of Spark since Aug. of 07, although I didn't start using it until Jan. of 08. I lost 33 lbs. and maintained it for over a year. When I turned 50 I looked and felt the best I had in years.
Life got busy and I slowly gained it all back plus some extra. I've been struggling to get back on track for over a year. I do well for a few days and then I fall off the wagon. I can't seem to find and keep my motivation.
Over the years of losing and not learning how to maintain I've learned that I have to do exercise I enjoy, eat some of the foods I like, and not try to be perfect.
I'm going to try again to get this weight off. I felt so much better and better about myself when I was thinner. I'm not going to make promises that I will reach certain goals by specific dates. That has worked for me in the past, but not lately. I don't want to break any more promises to myself so I'll take it slow.

My Program:
-pack my lunch/snacks for work
-Cardio 3-4 times per week
-stay between 1250-1650 calories
-strength train 3 times per week
-pay myself $1 each time I exercise & $1 for each day I stay within my calorie range

I'm from Iowa. I have 3 children & 2 step children. I married a wonderful man 5 yrs. ago. We have 4 dogs.
I teach elementary special education.

    Hi, Thank you so much for liking many of my daily comments. I started Spark People about 6 years ago, but I wasn't successful until last year. I've now lost 47 pounds, no longer need cholesterol meds, and my blood pressure meds have been cut in half, and I turned 60 in January of this year. What changed? My entire life changed: I divorced a man I needed to have left years ago, my 2 daughters are married to good guys, I have 2 grandchildren I passionately love, and my 3rd grandchild is expected in August. This year is my 19th year as a 3rd grade teacher and I finally know I'm "good at teaching." Now I concentrate on me. I put all the passion I put into successfully raising 2 children, and earning a teaching credential, and masters degree into me. I eat low carb, lots of fruits, vegetables and protein everyday. I joined a wonderful Sports Club where I exercise and socialize everyday. I have a Fitbit and I walk over 10,000 steps daily which is easy for me because I, deliberately, teach on my feet all day. I noticed you're a teacher so, like me, you know how to get stuff done. Take your passion and focus it on you.
