A whole different journey lies ahead....

I am 61 years old and in Feb of 2007 was diagnosed with throat cancer, then thyroid cancer, then a skin cancer. Well it was a rough year 2007, but today I am still around. All tests so far are clean and OK, and I hope it will stay that way for a great while to come!!

I love to be involved with the arts: drawing, painting, and especially sculpture. I also very much enjoy to travel. See my web page at http://www.hd-una.com

My goal ... well, was put on hold because of the illness.

Today I take it slow, and I hope I can keep some of the pounds off that the cancer made me loose the drastic way.

My Goals:
I was at about 235 pounds at the time, and I wanted to take it slow and first go down to about 215 or so.

Well, that was the original plan until my cancer diagnosis. Now my weight-loss program is on hold for a little while. I'll probably will loose some pounds, but I do *NOT* recommend this particular approach of weight management. Kids, don't do this at home!

My Program:
Survive, and enjoy another day!

Personal Information:
I was born and raised in Cologne (Köln) in Germany. Moved to California in 1976. Worked for a long time in the computer industry (at Sun Microsystems) in Silicon Valley, California; and now I am happily retired in Oregon.

Hi, You don't know me, but I just had to write you and let you know how much I enjoy your funny lines on the Kaffeekraenzchen and the photo-up of Oregon's coastline. I hope that all will be well with you and your wife in 2008. Ich bin Oesterreicherin, aber schon eine ewigkeit hier in denStaaten. Ich wohne in Wisconsin beim Black River (indienhead territory) mitten im wald und besuche the spak pages everday. LOL

Hi HD,

I hope your recovery continues to go well and that you will be back on your travels again. My aunt has recently made a terrific recover from throat cancer, with radiation and chemo, surgery for her was not an option. Keep positive.

Hello and welcome to the German Speaking Sparkers! Cologne is a very beautiful city full of friendly folks! I just helped my little cousin get married there last year, and we had a wonderful time.

I will have to check out your website, but now I should really get to work.

Good luck with your goals!
Ute

Hi, just loved your webpage! I loved all the art that I could get to. Some pages did not work, but a lot of it did. Great job!
You live not far from some of our family, who is also German. They have visited Germany a few times.... Small world!

Thanks for sharing!!

~Kady
