Confessions of a future healthy person
I'm Lora. I'm 42 years old, married and my only children are dogs. January 1, 2012 I got on my home scale and cried for a while. My weight was 216 pounds. I would get home from work and be unable to do anything because of pain and exhaustion. I decided to cut back on the fast food lunches and dinners. I started having soy milk and fruit smoothies for breakfast. In March I got a treadmill and started walking. By April I had lost 12 pounds and hit a 6 week plateau. ...

I would get home from work and be unable to do anything because of pain and exhaustion. I decided to cut back on the fast food lunches and dinners. I started having soy milk and fruit smoothies for breakfast. In March I got a treadmill and started walking. By April I had lost 12 pounds and hit a 6 week plateau. I found SparkPeople and since have begun making more significant changes in my life. I am down 63 pounds (as of this week) and I feel better than I have in years. I know I still have a ways to go but, I have made terrific progress and I won't lose sight of that. Recently I have rediscovered things that I used to enjoy in life. Things that I either couldn't do, or didn't want to do because of my discomfort with my body. I am having fun this autumn, hitting craft fairs and festivals, and buying things that make me feel good. What I am not doing is hiding from myself or those I love anymore.

My Program:
I have begun walking on a treadmill (I asked DH for one for my last birthday and I got the new sneakers for Valentine's Day) I'm making healthier choices when I eat--beginning with replacing granola bar and pop-tart breakfasts with soymilk and frozen fruit smoothies that I make at home (got the stick blender as a christmas gift--are we seeing a theme or what?)

I am a huge reader and think e-readers are the greatest thing ever! I love my dogs (Chinese Shar-pei) Unfortunately, they are no help when it comes to losing weight and exercising--they prefer to sleep more than anything.
