Run Michele, Run!

Updating the page again!

I'm 23 years old, living in Baltimore with my boyfriend, and fighting once again with my weight! My first year out of college, I lived at home which was GREAT for my weight. Lots of fresh, healthy foods to eat.

Then I moved to the city in May 2010 and things went downhill. Eating out for lunch too many days a week, too many snack runs at work, too many nights where it was easier to grab dinner out, too many happy hours... the weight piled back ...

I'm 23 years old, living in Baltimore with my boyfriend, and fighting once again with my weight! My first year out of college, I lived at home which was GREAT for my weight. Lots of fresh, healthy foods to eat.

Then I moved to the city in May 2010 and things went downhill. Eating out for lunch too many days a week, too many snack runs at work, too many nights where it was easier to grab dinner out, too many happy hours... the weight piled back on until my jeans didn't fit anymore!

So I'm back (AGAIN) with a vengence! Need to learn to get this under control and maintain it... forever!

I've recently gotten into running. I completed the Couch to 5k, which really works! If I can do it, anyone can. This is from the girl who would claim she had cramps in gym class to avoid the mile run. How pathetic! Once I signed up for my first 5k, it was like a fire was lit inside me. And now I actually love it! Even after I completed the Couch to 5K, I didn't love running. It was still hard and exhausting, and I realized I HATE the treadmill. I LOVE running outside. I love the accomplishment of carry my body miles and miles through the city. I love the feeling I get when I come inside and realize I completed my course even faster than last week. There really IS a such thing as the runner's high.

Upcoming races:
-Baltimore Running Festival (5K) - October 16th (FIRST RACE!)
-Turkey Trot 5k - Thanksgiving Day
-Jingle Bell Run 5K - December 12th

Don't be fooled by my Weight Ticker... It says 100 is my goal, but I will never really get there (I don't think). But I have found that I have no idea what I really want to weigh. My lowest has been 116lbs, but I wasn't 100% happy there. So I moved my goal to 100 because to me, there's always room to improve!

My Goals:
My biggest goal is to be comfortable in my own skin! I don't want to feel self conscious about my body anymore (mostly my stomach and legs). I'm not sure what weight that means I want to be, but I know I still have a good amount to lose!

My Program:
The hardest part for me is going to be changing my eating! I love to eat, and my favorite foods are no longer allowed according to Sparkpeople!

Well I'm actually new to the whole running scene. I can run a little over a mile now...but it's slow and not extremely comfortable. I've run two a couple of times in the past few weeks but it's been hard. So I'm not really running a few miles w/out stopping & dying at the end...so I don't love it yet. But I think I will...once it's not uncomfortable.

Thanks for the friend add. I just got into running as well. You're farther along than I am but I've never really enjoyed it and I'm trying to stick with it. I'm actually training for my first half marathon...coming up in January. My dad is a runner and my husband is a runner...surely I can do it too? You've already made some good progress. Keep up the good work and it looks like we have a lot in common if you ever want to chat.

Hey girl!
Thanks for the add:) See you started running? I started 5 years ago and never quit! It just takes a good training program like you have to learn how you need to start. It's all mental:)
The whole healthy lifestyle thing is a process/journey...feel free to stop by and we can chat more!

I was eating 8-9 meals a day (loads of snacks). But I realized a lot of my "hunger" was just thirst. So I started listening to my body more and more. I'll bring the snacks back once we get home from vacation but right now I'm trying to prep for vaca (aka all inclusive resort and food at designated times...I can't go every 2 hours for food so I'm getting ready for it now!) It's working really well!

I upped my meals and it increased their holding power (breakfast alone is 400 calories)
