On the Way to Healthy

Hi there,
Well....guess the reason I'm on this site is I'm in my middle 50s and at my last dr. appt. found out my cholesterol was too high. Doesn't help that I should also lose around 25 lbs to help the joint stress, etc.
We've been empty nesters for 3yrs now, so I really don't have any more excuses, right? My husband & I are quite active. Enjoy riding our motorcycles, scuba diving, reading, spending time w/ children & grandchildren. I do enjoy exercising...do Curves w/ Zumba, ...

I do enjoy exercising...do Curves w/ Zumba, jog, yoga...maybe not enough and the control in eating...well...let's just say I use to be much more disciplined. I truly want to get healthier.
It starts now! Wish me luck. :)

My Goals:
I want/need to become healthier to keep up w/ my grandchildren and be able to do the activities I enjoy.

That said, my goals are to lose the extra weight I have, exercise more and to "mostly" eat healthy foods. (I am a realist. :) )

My Program:
My plan is to exercise at least 30 min. every day in varies forms and track my daily eating to start with.

I'll probably start a weight management program soon, also.

Personal Information:
I'm from WI. My wonderful husband & I've been married for 33 yrs. We have a Syberian Husky, three grown children and two grandchildren. I also have many musical instruments I love to play, love reading and one of my favorite toys-my Harley.

emoticon So glad to see my emoticon . I emoticon .

I know unpacking can be a reeeaaallll Pain emoticon . We've been here for almost a year and we still don't have everything in it's place. Good luck. If Family or Friends want to come check out the new place - simple - just give them a box and say join the party ! ! ! DH is mowing and I've got Spaghetti Sauce on for dinner tonight.

My Mom has built up her strength and has started mowing her lawn with a push mower - even DH doesn't use a push mower. We let her pick out the mower and she told DH that she wanted a push and one that wasn't self propelled. She doesn't have a small yard either. She will mow on it for 2 or 3 days and then start up the weedeater. She doesn't work on Sunday's, but as long as the weather allows she is outside. She tells me she takes breaks, drinks her water and stays in during the hottest part of the day. I still worry but what's a girl to do??? Sorry I got carried away.

I hope your having a great day. I'm so glad your back. Good luck with your boxes, Spark when you can, and take care.

My birthday was yesterday...thanks for the good wishes! I have been thinking of it even more in broader terms...I suppose the ultimate meaning is that everything is supposed to be for the common good of the country...to lift up all the people rather than just some. However...I think really that people being encouraged to excel and reach is ultimately better for a country as a whole. There is a reason people like us are needed here in the hospitality industry...tourists really don't dig on mediocrity! emoticon
