Been a long time since I have been on Spark. Have managed to keep off the pounds I lost but just stopped putting forth the effort to finish the weight loss.

I have put myself back on track to eating healthy and exercising at least five days a week. I have new found enthusiasm and want to finish the journey!

New Goal - gonna run a 5K
Two and a half years ago I was in a serious car accident and broke my neck. I couldn't walk without falling and I couldn't hold a glass without dropping it due to the spinal cord injury. I needed to have disks removed from my neck (they put cadaver ones in in their place) and a plate and screws to hold everything in place. I was in a chin to mid-chest neck brace for 4 1/2 months and spent that entire time in a lazy boy recliner. Yes, ate, slept, everything in the chair. Anyhow after months of therapy and learning to walk again I ended up much fatter than I started.

I had lost about 40 pounds the year after the surgery and kinda held stable up until January of this year. I decided it's time for me to finish what I started. Time to get healthy and stay healthy. I have been exercising and feeling strong and eating well and feeling healthy. I looked at my husband, kind of bored with my current exercise routine and asked if he thought I was crazy if I wanted to run a 5K by the end of the summer. He said, "that's wesome. Remember...a couple of years ago you couldn't walk."

So, I'm gonna run. I'm gonna try and run a 5K by the end of the summer. It may not be pretty, but when I think about where I was, envisioning where I want to be and making it happen doesn't seem too hard.

"Finish each day
And be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and
Absurdities have crept in.
Forget them as soon as you can."
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

“You've got to think about 'big things' while you're doing small things, so that all the small things go in the right direction.”

“It is never too late to be what you might have been.”

“Knowing is not enough, we must apply. Willing is not enough, we must do.”

“There are no short cuts to any place worth going.”

"If you can run a 5K, you can run a 10K. If you can run a 10K, you can run a 1/2 marathon. If you can run a 1/2 marathon, you can run a marathon. If you can run a marathon, you can run a lifetime!"-Coach Lee

“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.”

"It's very hard to understand that the whole idea is not to beat the other runners. Eventually you learn that the real competition is against the voice inside you that wants to quit." -George Sheehan

    Happy Birthday to You!!

Born September 24, you possess such acute sensitivity that you may find it difficult, at times, to protect yourself from the kinds of emotionally difficult situations that can arise. What you must do is learn to involve yourself without sacrificing your emotional detachment -- and this can be most helpful when you are trying to help another. There is no need, for example, to feel what another is feeling in order to give him or her the assistance needed at any given moment.

When it comes to your love life, you natural sensitivity can be both a blessing and a curse -- for you will be able to anticipate the natural ebb and flow of any relationship with keen accuracy, and this may cause you unnecessary distress at times.

Today’s Libra Horoscope: You may find yourself in an uncomfortable situation that requires you to ask for help in a way that doesn't come naturally to you.

    Hope your day was wonderful!
