Positively Mindful

Because of complications with my iron-deficiency anemia, I am only exercising for five minutes a day now. I am re-starting my fitness journey!

My name is Hannah. I'm 41 years young. I've been on Spark off and on for years, but haven't been that involved with teams. I'm here to lose weight, fifty lbs.- it's a lot! I walk for fitness or ride my stationary bike. I sometimes skip the bus and just walk to get a workout in, it saves money and is challenging because I have to do hills. ...

Now that I'm back to Spark, I want to make sure the weight loss works this time.

"Choose one thing and do it deeply, and you will do it all."
_Thich Nhat Hanh

Exercising every day is my one thing. I am being very disciplined about this because there is a family history of heart disease and diabetes.

"What is the point of walking meditation? Why do I practice sitting meditation? Because I like it. There is no point doing these practices if you do not enjoy them. It is not hard labour. Every breath can bring us peace, joy and freedom."
_Thich Nhat Hanh

2015 Resolutions
1.) Make a healthy lunch every day, unless I'll be eating out.
2.) Avoid alcoholic beverages entirely, until I am at goal weight. They have no nutritive value and work against losing weight.
3.) No coffee. I do not even like coffee! I hate it. So I always add some soy milk to it, so that it does not even taste like coffee. Alright, so I have been going through a lot of soy milk. Also, coffee causes your body to produce adrenaline, which makes you hyper alert and easily upset. The best source of energy should come from food and that is where I want to get it. I used to just drink herbal tea all the time, and I want to get back to that. It is way mellower. It does not affect your moods in a bad way if you just have the herbal kind.
4) Only sugar free cocoa, no other kind. The kind with sugar gives me a headache. I have been drinking it anyway. But that is going to stop!
5) Only sugar free candy, because sugar is not going to help me lose weight. And because regular chocolate candy seems to be some sort of trigger for me, I can't leave it alone! At least the sugar free kind has less calories.

Your blog about your dream was very interesting. I think we can learn a lot from our dreams. It's neat you can remember them. I can sometimes, but not all the time.

Have a great week!

Thank you for your comments on my Spark Page. It's been so hard for me to even mention the insanity I've been living with for the past three months (this time). We too have had to discard many of our belongings and have encountered blame and persecution from the rental agency rather than support and understanding. Thank you for your kindness.

Thank you for the support! Fiber is a good thing, I'll probably work on that down the road, good luck! Have a great weekend!

Thanks for all your comments! I could not eliminate coffee though. I would go nuts. I noticed that the half and half has 5 more calories than my creamer last night. I have to check out the ingredients in both. Milk unfortunately is not strong enough in my coffee. I like something more. I am down from 3 tablespoons of creamer though to only 2 tablespoons. That is a success and I expect some weight loss because of it. emoticon

You changed your colors! I love pink. Did you know that studies have shown that the color pink has a calming effect? I saw a documentary about it many years ago, showing that intake areas in jails and prisons had been painted pink to try to help subdue the new detainees' violent impulses.

Well, your page has nothing to do with prisons, of course. It's just pretty and peaceful.
