I'm a freelance writer and novelist from Upstate New York, struggling with multiple health issues, including what I've let become morbid obesity. I've been a member here since 2008, but 2012 is the year I get serious and defeat those obstacles I've let hold me back for so long.
It will be a long, hard, painful road, but I hope that I can stick with Sparkpeople's people, and get further than I ever have before!
1. 105 lbs, ONE pound at a time!
2. Learn to cook and eat healthier!
3. Address the psychological roots of my eating problems.
4. Exercise regularly!
5. Build a support system - make some friends!
Following my nutritionists plan, with a bit of advice here and there from many experts.

I live with a number of health problems that can sometimes really get in the way of my progress toward a healthy life. But I persevere -- not well sometimes, but hey, I try. :)
I'm a voracious reader, and I'll read anything. (I prefer happy endings, however.) Movies are the same. I love vampire lore EXCEPT TWILIGHT. I'm generally a genre geek. When I'm not online, reading, writing, or watching TV, I'm practicing yoga, the great love of my life! (Well, besides my cats, but that's too obvious.)

Hi and thanks for adding me! I have no doubt that we can do this. I am doing the walking, too. As a matter of fact, I'm doing a virtual walk, so I hope I'll work my way up to some serious walking distances per day. I'm committing myself to at least a half mile per day, but I intend to do more than that. It's only a minimum requirement that I'm making for myself. We can do this HAFowler, and I know we will! I look forward to keeping up with your progress! I'm here to support you in any way I can!
