Owning Myself

Hiya! My name is Gwen. I quit smoking on May 30th of LAST year (2008) - I cannot believe it is so close to my one year! I also am approaching my fifth annual 29th birthday this August.
I am just over 6' tall, and as a teenager I was very thin. When I graduated high school, I did nothing as far as exercise was concerned, and I started to gain a little weight. It really is not hard for me to lose ten pounds, and keep it off once I lose it, I just didn't realize how much ...

I am just over 6' tall, and as a teenager I was very thin. When I graduated high school, I did nothing as far as exercise was concerned, and I started to gain a little weight. It really is not hard for me to lose ten pounds, and keep it off once I lose it, I just didn't realize how much weight I gained this time because I started putting on strechier clothes, then the next thing I knew, I tried to put on my favorite something-or-other, and it wouldn't fit. I am the heaviest I have ever been in my entire life, with the exception of after giving birth to my first child. I used SP once before, and lost 20 pounds after I was in a major car wreck ; then my living situation changed, and I was unable to be active on the site, and then...
If I wouldn't have felt as though I HAD to finish everything on my plate (I will not make my kids do that) when I went out to a restaurant, and if I hadn't stopped working out when I met My Bernie, I would not be here now. I let myself go (& go & go...).
My goal is to be happy with myself again. A year ago, I was my normal self-confident Gwen. Now...not so much. It is amazing what 33 pounds will do to a persons self esteem. I don't want to be a size 2, I know I am too tall and my bones are too large for that to look anywhere near sexy, but a size 10 on my frame looks pretty darn good - to me anyway, and my opinion of myself is the only one that matters!

My Goals:
To drink 28 ounces of water a day.

To not push myself so hard; any progress is great progress!

Find SOMETHING active to do in the winter that I enjoy, so that I don't mind the cold & snow ( & so I don't gain another layer of 'insulation')

My Program:
I joined a gym near where I work in February. I weight train Mon, Wed, & Fridays, and use the elliptical for 20 to 30 min on Tues & Thurs, and even for just 3 - 10 minutes after I weight train, just to get SOMETHING in! I aim for 5 - 6 days a week of cardio.
I eat on a smaller plate, and finish my drink I have before I let myself go back for seconds, to give my brain a chance to get the message that I am full!

Personal Information:
My name is Gwen Zolber, I was born, raised, and still reside, in the North Idaho Panhandle - approx. an hour south of the Canadian border.
I have two little monsters (everyone calls them kids - what do they know???!!! LOL)

Other Information:
You can't pick yourself apart, until you put yourself together.

Hi my name is Amy;
I live in spokane wa. We have had a terribly long bleak winter! Have you had any sunshine there yet?- Anyway I just thought it would be cool to connect with another mom in this area with the same struggles. Looks like your doing great! Chat back if you like-----amy
