In 2007 I joined Sparkpeople on a lark, thinking, surely this won't work. But I surprised myself and lost 25lbs, and looked and felt fantastic.
After having a minor surgery and moving from an all day on my feet job to a desk job, the weight crept back on.

My daughter got married in July this year, and I managed to get down to 131lbs! It came off SO slowly, only 1lb a week, but it came off.
After the wedding, I gained back 2lbs, and now I want to get down to 128lbs and STAY there.


My new goal is not just to get to 128, but to also get fit and keep exercising.
Pain in my shoulder, neck, hand and foot has kept me from exercising or doing my yoga, and I've really noticed how NOT exercising is adding to my pain. My shoulders and back tighten up horribly when I don't keep active.

I'm going to physical therapy, and I am holding out hope that by this time next year I'll be back to a full exercise regimen and won't have to baby everything any more.

In the mean time, I'm watching my body change so very much, just since I really started feeling the affects of full on menopause.
Warning: may be TMI:
I see my legs getting skinny, but my middle being big, and my "girls", who couldn't stand up on their own anyway, have really gone wobbly. My hair is falling out, and I'm constipated all the time. I can live with all of this, but the hair loss is really starting to bother me a bit. Hoping my doc can make some suggestions that don't involve medications or hormone replacement.
I get hot flashes, but they are really just warm flushes, I don't really ever sweat when I have them.

So I'm going to start riding my bike regularly until it's too cold or the snow flies (I live in Alaska) so I can get some kind of aerobic exercise. Physical therapy is helping a lot, and I have to work on motivating myself to remember to do the exercises at home regularly. Wish me luck, I'm a little depressed at the physical ailments that have thrown me into a tailspin. I was doing so WELL in yoga!

My Goals:
Lose to 128!

Do exercises at home 20 minutes per day minimum.

Cut out dairy and grains, increase veggies even more, increase protein and egg intake.

Start journaling - get back to my "roots", the best of who I used to be, but got away from.

Nourish my spiritual self.


My Program:
10 minutes of exercise each morning before showering (we will see if that works).

10 minutes of exercises every evening.

Ride my bike every evening the weather will allow.




Personal Information:
I am 51 years old, and just started full menopause in February of 2014.

I have 4 kids and a great guy for a husband. Last kid is still at home, is 18 now.
Second grandbaby on the way, first one lives too far away to see. :(


Other Information:
I am enjoying food WAY too much! It's suddenly SO hard to not have more than I should of that delicious... whatever.
The food tracker helps me a lot. If I just stick with it!
