This is it - no more excuses, no more sob stories of the past. Life is tough for all of us at some point or another. It's time I knew how to deal with it in a manner that is not detrimental to my health.
No more diets. No pills. No shakes. No surgery. These are just not for me - not a dig at those who have used/use these methods. Just good ol' fashioned calorie reduction/higher quality foods/everything in moderation and exercise... lots and lots of exercise. This may be the slow ...

This may be the slow way, but I'll learn a lot more and make new habits that I keep for life. It isn't just about weight loss, it's about being able to maintain what I've taken off.
I am 5'10" and the lowest weight I ever achieved as an adult was 185 lbs and I was a comfortable size 14. I wouldn't mind getting back there and have 185 lb be my maximum weight... that is my long term goal.

Current Challenge:
lose 3-5 lbs per month

Ultimate goal: 17%-20% body fat - to be a lean 165 lbs or whatever weight I am at to achieve a good body fat % (I wouldn't know - I've never weighed less than 185 lbs as an adult!)

My Program:
- replacing old bad habits with new healthier ones
- eating 5 - 6 smaller, healthier meals per day
- drinking LOTS of water
- making exercise a priority in my life

I take inspiration and knowledge from: Michael Thurmond's 6 Week Body Makeover, Tom Venuto's 'Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle', Dr. Oz's tips, Bethenny Frankel's Naturally Thin "rules" and of course Sparkpeople's healthy ideas and recommendations!
