My Journey

I am a 56 year old retired Marine living in the Wisconsin countryside with Genie, my wife and best friend. We have 10 1/2 acres of land that has not been cleared except for where the house is. So we enjoy our privacy and the occasional visit from many of our wildlife friends. It is not uncommon for us to watch deer playing in the front yard while we have our morning coffee and chipmunks like to come in and hide acorns in our shoes. Since Spot and Not, our 2 mutant cats, I call them mutant ...

So we enjoy our privacy and the occasional visit from many of our wildlife friends. It is not uncommon for us to watch deer playing in the front yard while we have our morning coffee and chipmunks like to come in and hide acorns in our shoes. Since Spot and Not, our 2 mutant cats, I call them mutant because they are so big, joined the family after we rescued them from the shelter, the acorns don't show up quit as much. Genie works for a large company in Madison and I am semi retired. She started a small business of her own a few years ago making handcrafted jewelry. I taught myself how to do wire wrapping and now we work and attend craft shows together.

After I retired from the Marines I started putting on weight. Genie and I love to cook and eat so now we both have to pay the fiddler. I am looking forward to this journey with her and the friends we will make here.

THE JOURNEY OF A THOUSAND MILES STARTS WITH A SINGLE STEP!!

Let the journey begin.

My Goals:
I want to get back to a healthy weight so I don't feel winded just climbing the stairs. I need to get back to that Marine Corp fighting trim so I can keep up with all my grand kids.

My Program:
I am using the nutrition tracker to develop healthy eating habits and stay ahead of the game. We just bought a Wii with the EA Active and Fitness programs to make trying to get more exercise in these Wisconsin winters more doable and enjoyable. I will track that with the Fitness Tracker.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~Rules of Chocolate Easter Eggs ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
If you get melted chocolate all over your hands, you're eating it too slowly.
Chocolate covered raisins, cherries, orange slices and strawberries all count as fruit, so eat as many as you want.
Diet tip: Eat an Easter egg before each meal.
It'll take the edge off your appetite, and that way you'll eat less.
If you can't eat all your chocolate, it will keep in the freezer. But if you can't eat all your chocolate, what's wrong with you?
If calories are an issue, store your chocolate on top of the fridge. Calories are afraid of heights, and they will jump out of the chocolate to protect themselves.
Money talks. Chocolate sings.
Chocolate has many preservatives. Preservatives make you look younger.
The problem: How to get two pounds of chocolate eggs home from the store in a hot car.
The solution: Eat the eggs in the car park.
Why is there no such organization as Chocoholics Anonymous?
Because no one wants to quit.
emoticon WHAT IS YOUR MONEY WORTH? emoticon
Too many people buy things they don’t need with money they don’t have,
to impress people they don’t like............Will Rogers.
Money is not the most important thing in the world. Love is.
Fortunately, I love money............Jackie Mason
Many people are so poor because the only thing they have is money.
Don't think money does everything, or you are going to end up
doing everything for money.
emoticon It's toughest to forgive ourselves. So it's probably best
emoticon to start with other people.
emoticon It's almost like peeling an onion. Layer by layer,
emoticon forgiving others, you really do get to the point
emoticon where you can forgive yourself.
