My Daily Great Thang.

Thanks for visiting my page, everyone.

I intend to try baby steps this time. I've naught else to lose in a manner of speaking. Just gonna simply make a daily requirement of doing a mandatory minimum of ONE great thang for myself each day and it must be in the form of a decision.

Day One's great thang was deciding to take the stairs up to my work on the 4th floor. Surprisingly that lead to my later deciding (quite easily in fact) to avert my gaze the rest of the day ...

I intend to try baby steps this time. I've naught else to lose in a manner of speaking. Just gonna simply make a daily requirement of doing a mandatory minimum of ONE great thang for myself each day and it must be in the form of a decision.

Day One's great thang was deciding to take the stairs up to my work on the 4th floor. Surprisingly that lead to my later deciding (quite easily in fact) to avert my gaze the rest of the day from the chocolate box that used my desk to set itself up for my and my co-worker's enjoyment ... no easy feat as it was doing its darnedest to engage me in a real bona fide staring contest with it. Ah but never fear. Today I was on my guard because I decided to be aware of the fact that this was one contest I would very likely lose if not careful; next, I decided to drink my apple juice watered down. Oh look out! I'm on FIRE now baby! ; then I decided to run, not walk for the train home (ok I was late leaving and HAD to run but I've already DECIDED it counts as a Daily Great Thang); then when I got home, I decided to swish quickly past the Lindt Chocolate Advent Calendar and head instead for the fruit bowl (smashing decision that was - Go Me Go!); next, I decided to, and did, make and eat a healthy home cooked meal; then for my second last Daily Great Thang decision, I decided to AVOID the snack hour by taking a bath, which put me in just the perfect frame of mind to make a stunning and quite remarkably a propos final great thang decision for the day - to get to bed early.

Hmmm All this from a single, mandatory minimum of one Daily Great Thang. Who's gonna stop me now? Huh? Who?

Day Two: Weeeeell, I didn't decide to resist the chocolate (I was feeling confident after the prior day's great thang successes). I later decided to drink an iced tea but for the same reason, didn't decide to water it down; I decided I needed to finish off the chocolate so it would be off my desk once and for all. I counted it as a Daily Great Thang decision because it did somehow contain some (HA more like a small tiny miniscule grain of it anyway) LOGIC, albeit a bit warped; and later that day, I ordered supper from a fast food delivery place and got much too much food with double that amount of tzaziki sauce as an extra saturated reward for my lame-oh efforts of the day.

It was at around this moment when I suddenly noticed something important ... "Hey?" I said to myself "I didn't REALLY make any true Daily Great Thang decision today at all!" Oh right! Well, good thing it's a daily minimum of just one, I thought - confident once more that I still had time - could still save the day.... think. think. THINK! what could I do? Well, running out of time now so, I decided to put some nice smelling hand cream on my cracked hands to help me relax and think. finally, it came to me in a FLASH of pure insight!
"Aha! I still have time to work in a final daily great thang decision by DECIDING to as with the previous night, avoid the after supper snacking hour and take another lovely bath to soothe me ... which of course as I'm sure you've already guessed ... then lead to another -let's say the MOTHER of all Great Thang Decisions - The EARLY NIGHT and a good feeling of having taken care of myself.

OH, That's such a Great Thang!

Odd that I didn't feel too guilty considering my great start one day and not so great continuation the next day ... odd that I didn't become overwhelmed with discouragement in the least.

In exploring baby steps. The bath might just be the thang. Perhaps in this case, I could even call it ... the REAL Thang. I like the sound of that. This decision is a tremendously easy one that I could always make at the end of a long day of temptation that got the best of me.

This bath decision gets me:

* away from TV and those naughty commercials that beg me to indulge in ooey gooey cheesy goodness;

and instead focuses me towards an early night for a good rest.

After all, where was it I read that - Sleep deprivation is directly related to weight gain? - I can absolutely positively concur with that one!

Goodness, Look at the time. better make sure I make a few good Great Thang decisions starting early tomorrow! But if not, I got my bath to fall in to!
