I am 41 years old and recently divorced as of December, 2008. I was married for 10 years to my second husband and the last several were very rough years. It is all good though and I feel so much less stress and now I can focus on me and what I need to do to make me healthy and happy again.

A Little Bit About Me
I am 41 years old and recently divorced as of December, 2008. I was married for 10 years to my second husband and the last several were very rough years. It is all good though and I feel so much less stress and now I can focus on me and what I need to do to make me healthy and happy again.

My Job
I work in the medical field and love my job. I am on my feet for 12+ hour shifts and I hit the floor running all day. I wear a pedometer and walk on an average of 12 mile a day. Some days are more depending on our staff to patient ratio. So those of you that wonder about my fitness log. That is where I put in 360 minutes of walking, on the days that I work.

My Legacy
I have 3 great children, My daughter is 24 and married to fantastic man. He is also 24 and they are in the Airforce stationed in Oklahoma. I have 2 sons, one is 20 the other is 18. They are working on becoming great men all though they still need a nudge in the right direction every now and then.

My Weight Gain Story
In 1999 I was around 135 lbs and I underwent cancer treatments for about 18 months. I gained 60 pounds from the steroids.. and I only lost about 30 or so afterwards probably due to my own metabolism kicking in. Then in 2004 I quit smoking as a birthday present to my self, (YEAH !! ME!!) but I then added another 40 pounds over the next year to my already stout 5'3" apple frame... I did not exercise and pretty much ate what ever I wanted so I eventually topped out at 212 lbs, my heaviest weight ever!

The Turning Point
Once I was totally disgusted with my weight and how I looked in the mirror, I have been on a woman on a mission every since. I proceded to try most of the popular diets, the 6 week body makeover, Adkins, the carbohydrate addicts, sugar busters, even the eat by your blood type diet.. and so on ...Some work so so .. I lost a few lbs, here and there, but then gain them right back.

Lessons Learned
So what I have learned from all of those miss-adventures is that I just need to eat right and control my portions . I have tried to make it a life style and think that I am succeeding very well with that. So it leaves me with what I think is my biggest issue which is just plain exercising.

What Has Not Worked
I have tried to get an exercise plan on my own.. using videos and I even bought a mini trampoline and stability ball that ended up laying around, getting in the way and taking up space. Crazy as it sounds, I did not want to put them away just in case I ever get the urge to use them again. My sister gave me the treadmill that has been passed around the family, but I lost interest in that as well and it is being used as extra storage by being in the garage with stuff hanging from it.

February of 2007
I joined Sparks People because I have been struggling with my weight physically and socially as well as psychologically every day for several years. I have strayed away from here a few times, but I find myself coming back. There is so much information here and I love the tracking tools.. My 3 sisters and my daughter have joined up on here too. Again, there is just so much of a wealth of information.

September 2008,
My perfectly fit boys talked me into joining Gold's Gym. So we got a family membership. They go all the time.. I go 3 days a week on my days off and I give myself Sunday as my day of rest. I have to say that I am feeling much better and i have more energy than I have had in a long while..

Motivation
A big motivator for me is my youngest son. He goes with me almost every time I go. We both go do our own thing, but he comes around and checks in on me several times while we are there. It is nice to have someone to go with. I don't feel so alone and out of place.

Down The Road
I am hoping that this is what will help me make it a positive lifestyle change on exercising as well... I will be updating my progress though my blog when I can, so anyone is welcome to tune in and see where this new adventure takes me...

My Goals:
Is to to look and feel better.. I would like to lose at least 50 lbs.

My Program:
I go to the gym at least 3 times a week. I am there anywhere from 1 - 2 hours. I do cardio and strength training. Right now all i do is the treadmill for cardio.

Personal Information:
I am from Colorado, have 3 kids, all of whom have ventured out on their own and I am recently divorced
