I abandoned SparkPeople for three years! But now I'm back. I had my sweet baby, who is now a toddler. I quickly lost my "baby weight," but then the pounds have started to creep back up. So I'm back with a goal of losing 30 pounds, which will get me squarely in the middle of a healthy BMI. I missed you, SparkPeople!
I don't know if anybody still reads this, but I have neglected SP for quite awhile. With good reason; I'm pregnant and just started my second trimester. :) So no weight loss focus for me for awhile. I am hanging out just a little bit at BabyFit but not too much. Still working out 3-5x per week with some modifications, mostly yoga, toning & low-impact aerobics. Trying to eat well and stick within the 20-pound weight gain my doc wants me to.

I have been obese my entire life.
I made the typical attempts. Atkins. Protein Power. Slimfast. Dexatrim. Weight Watchers (multiple times). I lost weight, but always gained it back, plus more. I lost 30 pounds on WW and basked in all of the compliments, while feeling sad that approval from family was tied to my weight. I got sidetracked due to surgery and then never got back on the wagon. Then I hit 300 pounds. Ouch.
I learned about the lapband from ObesityHelp.com in 2005. I'd heard about the various gastric bypass procedures because of all of the celebrities who had it done. But it scared me. Now I know that everybody has to choose the right tool for them to lose weight and take control of their lives, and that it isn't cheating at all.
I had lapband surgery on 2/14/2008. Recovery was relatively easy and I have had no complications. Thirty pounds is the most I lost on any diet in the past 10+ years, and it took me a long time to do it. But this time I am going to go way beyond 30 pounds, and I'm going to keep it off.
I am making lifelong changes in my relationship with food, exercise and my body. I eat to live, not live to eat. I am learning to love myself. Exercise makes me feel strong and accomplished. It relieves stress, too!
The band is amazing, and I am very proud of what I have accomplished so far. As of 3/30/10, I have lost over 120 pounds.
