My sister and I had pedicures to celebrate 21 years of sobriety.

A daylily that I find breathtaking. Don't know the variety.

My pride and joy hibiscus, finally blooming after three years.

Hi! My name is Sue, and I'm trying to stay motivated to eat in a healthy way, overcome my problem of binge eating, and exercise. I'm an enthusiastic gardener and live in Coastal Maine.

My doctor told me this morning in no uncertain terms that I need to lose weight because of shortness of breath. Today I feel the way I felt 27 years ago when I finally got sick enough of drinking to quit. I'm scared that I'll fail (again) in my weight-loss quest, but I also really want the ...

I'm scared that I'll fail (again) in my weight-loss quest, but I also really want the benefits I'll get from it.

Update: Now I've been diagnosed with Barrett's esophagus caused by longterm acid reflux. Since that can be a precancerous condition, it's all the more important for me to get to a healthy weight.

Recommitting!

(Butting into your conversation with Pat) There are also pre-mixed solutions for wallpaper removal, although like Pat, I prefer steam. You can often rent a wallpaper steamer from a hardware store like a True Value.

If the wallpaper is one layer over plaster and it's good and tight, rather than risk nicking the plaster or worse, destabilizing it with too much moisture, you can often just paper over the first layer as long as it's not flocked or shiny. My mother used to refer to this as "leaving the problem for the next guy" but at my age, I figure that's a fair deal. emoticon

SUE, I always remove the wallpaper using steam. and a scraper. It comes off quite easily. In UK everyone of my generation had wall paper and I used to go with my mother to paper. Just before Christmas I went to Bridgton to Wallpaper a Spark friend's room. Will you do it yourself or do you prefer to DIY HUGS Pat in Maine.

Thanks for helping to expand the Chat. Pat in Augusta. emoticon emoticon emoticon
My Tai Chi instructor at senior college also finds Buddhism to be the way to go. I must delve in to it some more. Any literature you can suggest on the subject I can read. Elementary reading please. Our instructor did the meditation and Tai Chi but not the spiritual aspect of the culture.Pat in Maine.

Hi I am so glad there is still interest. I nave blogged for a long time. I have a streak log logins and I am now 70 years young and down 50 pounds. I love Spark, I have seen your profile picture but I very rarely remember names.
DH and I have been members f the Coastal Maine botanical gardens for a long time. I have Blogged them and I like to take out of state Sparkers there. DH like to catch the rhododendron gardens and the lady slippers and we just love to walk there .

Thanks for the response. Oh By the way I was Diagnosed with Barrett's after my Ba Swallow showed the parrots beak but I was having major esophageal spasms. I kept going to the ER thinking it was a heart attack . I have been here on Spark for four years and I have concentrated on my health conditions. At this time I watch what I eat and I am off meds for BP, Diabetes 2, and High BP. I love being on the site and DH and I love Maine. We came here for 2 years and never went back . We have been here for 48 years same address for over 40 of those years. So happy you will post. Pat in Augusta.
