Roses and a daylily by the front steps

A daylily that I find breathtaking. Don't know the variety.

My pride and joy hibiscus, finally blooming after three years.

Hi! My name is Sue, and I'm trying to stay motivated to eat in a healthy way and exercise. I'm an enthusiastic gardener and live in Coastal Maine.

In the past two years I've been diagnosed with Barrett's esophagus, caused by longterm acid reflux, and Type 2 diabetes. I lost 46 pounds, but have been doing a lot of stress eating in the past six months because of famiy illness and have gained back 14 pounds.

Barrett's esophagus can be a precancerous condition (though the doctor said it's unlikely that mine will become cancerous), and diabetes can cause very serious health problems. So it's all the more important for me to get to a healthy weight.

I've joined the 2016 Winter 5% Challenge, so I'm going to post my exercise plan here, as they suggest. I will do aerobic exercise for at least 45 minutes five days a week and will do strength training three days.

I would like to lose 20 pounds and get to 145.

Recommitting!

How nice if we could visit each other and talk about gardening for long! What are your favorite plants to grow? I can see the roses, daylilies, daisies, dianthus and hibiscus in your page emoticon Do you keep them in pots dormant during the winter?
