Welcome to my SparkPage! I'm 37 years old, married to an amazing woman, and I have a 3 year old daughter and a 6 month old son. The past three have been the hardest and most wonderful of my life. Being a parent is awesome, I truly believe that being a Dad is what I was put on earth to do.

I'm here because I've struggled with my weight since leaving college and getting a desk job some 12 years ago. Then about 5 years ago I quit smoking and I got even heavier. I did the WW thing 2 or 3 times with varying levels of success, but each time I would lose interest, stop tracking, and lose sight of what healthy eating is.

So I came to a point in my life where I really needed to make a change and set a good example for my daughter. I don't want to be a fat Dad. I want to be a Dad that is thin, fit, and in good physical and mental health. And most importantly, I want to be here on this earth as long as possible and see my childrens' children grow up.

On January 3, 2012 I started using SparkPeople as a tool to help me reach my weight loss goals. I weighed in with a starting weight of 249 pounds. At 6'2" that meant my BMI was 32, which meant I was officially obese. In early February 2012, I had lost enough weight to get my BMI below 30, no longer obese, now simply overweight. And in late June 2012 I had lost enough weight to get my BMI below 25 and into the healthy range!

While on this journey I have realized that I can do anything I want to do. And so can you! It's all up to you. Be strong, focused and determined to make your dreams a reality, and they will happen.

THANKS! I thought maybe I'd need to get it adjusted, but I really wasn't sure. It's hard to know how it should fit when you've never had one before! I'll call them up :)

Hi Michael thank you for your comment and support on my blog. It was nice hearing from you and seeing happy getting a chance to fit in your exercise and make time for good healthy choices. It's so hard with a baby in the house and having children. But time passes and it just gets better. I am postive that you and your wife will both reach your goals !! Great job on your weight loss !
My coach got a chance to speak to one of the judges yestereday over the phone and she found out that the judges at this certain competition for some reason didn't have the paper in front of them with the requirments of elements for each level skater and when they saw the other lady have in 6 jumps in and me only the 4 they didnt' know that she was cheating and having too many in her program. So instead they took her fall and didn't count it because she had 5 OK jumps. The judge said her spins didn't even count so she didn't understand why the two others gave me second when I had a clean program. She even said I should of clearly been 1st place !!
That's all I needed to hear. I'm good I feel much better. I learned a lot from the experience and had a fun time. Thats what counts. The memories. Not the medal.
I am getting ready for a skating show on the 3rd and I'm leaving for a little getta way myself out to Ohio to spend some time with a high school friend. Can't wait !!!!!!!!!

Have a great, strong week. Kick butt !!!

Hello emoticon emoticon
I haven't heard from you. Checking in and seeing how are things for all of you. How is your little sweet boy doing ?? How is running going ? Do you have a 5k planned soon or in spring ?? emoticon on your weight loss from the holidays, your doing emoticon back at.
I've been so busy. Heavy skating training started back up with some ballet now. My new routine is a Romeo and Juliet theme and song so my skating needs to be extra graceful emoticon I'm running in a 5k in March and my first competition is in April. So excited to be back in the right mind frame and refocused.

Hope all is well with you and your family. Keep up the good work Michael. You ROCK !!!!!!!! emoticon emoticon

Congratulations on your loss of two more pounds which puts you in the 180s. You are an inspiration and challenge to keep up with. I intend to be in the 180s soon. I am now at 194.
