Welcome to my SparkPage! I'm 38 years old, married to an amazing woman, and I have a 4 year old daughter and a 20 month old son. The past four years have been the hardest and most wonderful of my life. Being a parent is awesome, I truly believe that being a Dad is what I was put on earth to do.

I'm here because I've struggled with my weight since leaving college and getting a desk job some 12 years ago. Then about 5 years ago I quit smoking and I got even heavier. I did the WW thing 2 or 3 times with varying levels of success, but each time I would lose interest, stop tracking, and lose sight of what healthy eating is.

So I came to a point in my life where I really needed to make a change and set a good example for my daughter. I don't want to be a fat Dad. I want to be a Dad that is thin, fit, and in good physical and mental health. And most importantly, I want to be here on this earth as long as possible and see my childrens' children grow up.

On January 3, 2012 I started using SparkPeople as a tool to help me reach my weight loss goals. I weighed in with a starting weight of 249 pounds. At 6'2" that meant my BMI was 32, which meant I was officially obese. In early February 2012, I had lost enough weight to get my BMI below 30, no longer obese, now simply overweight. And in late June 2012 I had lost enough weight to get my BMI below 25 and into the healthy range!

In October 2012 my Son was born, and I lost track of a lot of my newly-learned healthy habits. Over the next year and a half I gained back about 30 pounds of what I lost on SP in 2012. It's been a bit of a struggle to get back on track, but I know I can do it, I just need to get my head back on track.

Hi Michael !!!! Great to hear from you. Thank you for the comments.
I'm always working hard. I fall down too just like you but I get back up. You can do this !!! Things happen it's so hard. But then I will never forget how strong you are and how much of an inspiration you were to me !!!
I know and believe in you so now it's time to earn that back
You will. One day at a time. Baby steps !!! I'm struggling some too . I've gained 4 back which is no good for skating but I'm going to do my best to get back on track.

How cool! You will probably give us a run for our money. We were lucky to get in this year with just a 7-5 record, but we won our last two bowl games. Unfortunately, this will be the first year JD is not playing so it will be hard to watch the game home on TV, instead of in sunny Florida but good luck and may the best team win...GO BOBCATS! :)

Wow, what a game today!! Even though I am a huge, huge Duke fan, there is one team that is higher on the list, that being UVM. I grew up in Vermont, still live here and UVM is my Alma Mater. It was going to be a win for me either way. I am so proud of our UVM men! One extrastep lost it for them! Coach K. will never, ever underestimate UVM again! My only wish was that I was in Durham to watch it live. I doubt that the match up will occur in a very long time. Not only that, but I had to listen to the game on the UVM radio because we don't get ESPNU on our cable network! I have since watched a good number of the post game videos. Anyway, Go Duke, I mean UVM, no I mean Duke....!!!!
