GRANNIE'S IN THE HOUSE

I am so very grateful to be on this journey with so many wonderful people. I made the decision to do something about my weight the end of 2008 and discussed my desires with my doctor. She gave me the go-ahead with a few suggestions and directions. After much planning and idea getting from the show "The Biggest Loser," I began my journey the beginning of March 2009.

I found SparkPeople while looking for a free calorie counter as recommended by another fitness site I joined. Even though I lost 10 pounds the first two weeks with this other site, I switched to SparkPeople. Cost (free!!!) is not the primary reason why I joined: The recipes, the flexibility of fitness and nutrition planning, and most important to me is the Spark Community.

I have received support and encouragement from my fellow travelers, and because of the awsome example of those who have made me feel a part of what I believe is a gift from God; I have been inspired to pass on what has been so freely given to me.

May all who visit my SparkPage take away something to help them on their journey. God Bless.

MARY

My Goals:
My goals are to: A. Change my eating and exercising habits
B. Loose weight by using these changed behaviors
C. Be an inspiration to others on the same journey as I.

My Program:
I plan on following the recommended meal and exercise plans that will lead me to receive and give support whenever I can.

Personal Information:
Please call me Mary, Grandma is for a select few. I'm 59 with 3 adult sons, and 7 grand children. My late husband and I along with another couple operated a community theatre until lung cancer took his life. I've been a widow for over 20 years so, it's just "Spud the Pug" and me. My middle son, Andre, lives close by here in San Bernardino, CA, and I'm very involved in the day to day affairs of his 8 year old son.

Other Information:
I have enjoyed writing scripts for stage and the cinema that have not sold yet, but would love to go back to staging productions. I believe I'll be able to meet this personal goal once I've achieved my fitness goals.

Hi.
I am new to the community and having their support is essential to my goal of losing this excess weight. I am so impressed with the integrity and motivation of all of you. To be honest, I am a drop-out of too many plans, programs, until I am now determined to just plow ahead - even before the holidays. Usually, everyone in my family would say 'wait until New Year! Well, too many new years have come and gone and etch one seem to add about 10 to 15 more lbs. (Smile).
So, here's a determined 'granny' who means business. I won't be wearing a size 11, in Sept. 2010, but I know I won't be a 1X. emoticon

Thank you for your comment on my SparkPage blog. I was pretty sure my insurance said it would pay for the YMCA so called and checked. They do and they called the Y and corrected their mistake so now I don't have to pay or go a certain number of days per month.
