My summer goals

I have been in a slump lately, and I realize that. I feel like I have been powerless to stop this downward spiral I am taking. However, I have decided that no one can help me except ME! (Do I preach this to my patients everyday???)

I have registered for a fall sprint triathlon, so I have to get myself going. It is my idea of a great "race". It is a Spa Girl Tri, held at a resort - the swim part is held in the lazy river that runs around the resort, without jets ...

I have a schedule and am trying to get to the gym 3 times a week to work on my swimming. Looking at my training plan daily helps me get myself up and moving.

My Goals:
It is time to get serious about my health. I am loosing flexibility daily, so my #1 goal is to stretch daily. If I can do that, I will be able to work on my triathlon training.

My Program:
I have signed up for a sprint triathlon in November, so I need to get busy training. I have a program to follow, but am not always consistent, because of work, home life, etc. However, my goal is to swim 3 days a week, bike 3 days a week, and run/walk 3 days a week. Some of the activities should be done the same day, so I will have a day of "rest" or cross training. I need to find time to stretch and strength train also, because both of these will improve my stamina, my flexibility, and my ability to bike, swim, and run.

Personal Information:
I have been married almost 38 years, am mother of 3 WONDERFUL daughters, grandmother of 6 grandchildren (3 boys, 3 girls). AND, we are expecting another grandchild in July - so very thrilled for my daughter and son-in-law! I am a Nurse Practitioner who cares for the homeless population, doing what I believe God wants me to do.

Other Information:
I love to sew and quilt; I am hoping to reorganize my life to work on some unfinished projects, although I am not sure how that will happen. I love to read, but seem to only get time when I am sitting in a waiting room. I usually carry a book in the car "just in case".
