Welcome back food tracking...I've missed you 16 lbs. worth :)


I don't think "holiday eating" was worth it...but seemed like it was at the time.


With the transition to whole foods largely accomplished, it is time to tackle my number one health issue: my weight. By making healthy choices in food and activity I will reach my goal: Provide myself the best possible healthy body with which to enjoy this amazing life God has given to me.

Realization: Following an urge to snack on sugary, carby things will not satisfy that urge. It will only leave me wanting more. Taking control, mindfully making the decision to eat lots of vegetables and high quality protein keeps me nourished...which is the primary point of eating. The best way I've found to overcome those sugar urges is with distraction...just saying no...realizing that eating that carb wont make that urge go away...so getting away from food and busy with something else seems to work.

My Goals:
Short term goal: lose 10 lbs in the 5% Fall Challenge. (by Dec. 1)
Long term goal: lose 70 pounds by 10/27/2013.

Focus: be healthy

My Program:
I've found Dr. Michael Eades's book, Protein Power, to be very helpful. I'm following a restricted carb/adequate protein/healthy fat approach to adjusting my metabolism. I feel SO MUCH BETTER!! And I'm losing weight! I've set a goal of getting to 145 ...then I'll see if I want to lose more.

So, I track everything that goes in my mouth. Eat whole foods, avoiding artificial sweeteners, colors, flavors, sugar, and other carbs. I enjoy eating lots of salad greens and veggies, blueberries, strawberries, and an occasional apple. I eat a lot of wild caught salmon and tilapia. I enjoy the foods I eat now...and that is a wonderful thing.

I try to make certain I get good sleep, and take vitamin and mineral supplements. I'm keeping a positive and connected approach to my health and weight-loss by making Spark an important part of my day, and making myself near obnoxious telling my friends, family, and especially my sweet mother, about every little step of the progress.

Personal Information:
A Texan transplant happily making my home on a twenty-acre hill in the Quachitas of southeast Oklahoma. Seven children, three still at home; seven granddarlings. I love gardening,sewing, needlework and handcrafts of all kinds. Married to my precious high school sweetheart since 1982, we are planning a second wedding on 10/27/2013.

All time fav movie: The Lakehouse. Book I'm reading now: Enslaved by Ducks by Bob Tarte (hilarious) Personal motto: Learn something new everyday of your life. Love like you want to be loved;Give what you want to receive; Forgive because you need forgiveness; Remember that you have received Mercy.
