New Grandma

I'm 58 yo and a new first-time grandmother. I'm retiring within the next year and we are moving to North Carolina. My husband & I have been married for 33 years. We have a son & a daughter, both married. Our first grandson is 5 months old.

I sit at a desk all day at work and love to snack on anything that is brought in to the office -- usually candy, chips, donuts, or cookies. I've tried a lot of diets and they have all worked, but I get tired of eating the same things all ...

I sit at a desk all day at work and love to snack on anything that is brought in to the office -- usually candy, chips, donuts, or cookies. I've tried a lot of diets and they have all worked, but I get tired of eating the same things all the time so I stop. I am unable to do a lot of exercises because of 2 herniated discs and deteriorating vertebrae and I am currently recovering from surgery on both feet which will take at least one year to heal completely. I am discouraged about this because I like to walk outside with our dog, especially in the summer.

I have a good friend who introduced me to sparkpeople and is excited about her results. I'm hoping we can work together to reach our goals.

I would like to find some exercises that I can do that don't require twisting or jumping or a lot of bending. My biggest goal is to lose my desired weight before Thanksgiving without having to starve myself!

Welcome to Spark People!

I started last June and by using Spark and some self discovery in the process, I'm down 25 pounds, and am holding steady at a healthy weight. Spark is a massive site; you'll be discovering new and exciting things for at least two months. There are so many teams, you'll find several to choose from and you can join as many as you have time for. Good luck and enjoy this invigorating new healthy lifestyle.
