Hey there, my name is Alysia; I am currently on a journey towards loving myself and the body that I am in; this is a hard thing to do but I am doing it. My wedding was on the fourth of July 2009. Hey there, my name is Alysia; I am currently on a journey towards loving myself and the body that I am in; this is a hard thing to do but I am doing it. My wedding was on the fourth of July 2009. I am entering into this stage of my life in a healthier body. I'm ready to change my life and the health of my body. If anyone is looking for an accountability partner/buddy I am totally down. My Story: I was born premature weighing 2 pounds. As I grew up I was a skinny child. I was constantly made fun of by my family. My nickname was 'tooth pick' and I hated it. I remember when I was in the fourth grade I gained a little weight. My mother called this "growing up weight". I was so happy about no longer being skinny. However, with this new weight came a new nickname 'hoggish'. My mother started to deny me food and I wouldn't allow me to have a second serving of any meal. If I ever ate anything in front of family members I would hear the following: Should you be eating that? or Do you want to stay fat? or You are so hoggish! I would cry and then not eat. This habit of under eating has followed me into adulthood. I do not like to eat in front of people. I have had experiences in the past where people like to discuss my eating habits. These are the phrases that I have heard: If you really ate like that you wouldn't be so fat? You know you want some more? If you really ate like that you would be skinny. Don't eat so fast and stop being hoggish? You know you don't like yogurt? Are you sure you should be eating that? These statements caused me to not eat through out the day and then to eat a small amount at dinner when no one was around because I felt that I couldn't eat too much food (even if that meant remaining hungry). By my senior year in high school I weighed 194 pounds. When I entered college I realized that I wanted to lose weight. I was away from my unhappy family and found the resources to lose the weight. I was down to 180 pounds when I was raped. The stress from being raped caused me to fall back into old habits and to move away from cardio. I began weight lifting everyday--upper body in the morning and lower body at night. I packed on the pounds and felt strong. After visiting a counselor (upon urging of friends) I realized that my work out routine was unhealthy. So I stopped all forms of exercise. I went up to 245 pounds. After looking at a picture of myself I decided to start working out. From summer 2006 to early fall 2007 I had gotten my weight down to 205. I then started graduate school and gained 20 pounds back. I am here to get down to my goal weight of 170 pounds. I can do it! Goals 1. Embrace my journey 2. Do my work outs in the morning 3. Start doing two twice a week 4. Begin eating six times a day (3 meals and 3 snacks) I am currently TTC so if I become pregnant my plans/goals will change.
