After years of putting my health low on the priority list, I found myself at the tender age of 27 looking in the mirror and not recognizing what I saw. I was 221 pounds, facing surgery on a stress-related (and possibly weight-related) issue and I knew that I needed to do something. I began with watching my calories and woke up every morning to do something with weights or some cardio before work. I was determined. And before my surgery I was able to lose 22 lbs.

I gained a little back while recovering, but then set back to work again on my goals. In another few months I would be getting married and I was able to lose another 15 lbs, but then I stalled and then gained.

At 204 lbs again I was in tears and just sick of the way I felt and looked. I joined an internet group site and started tracking everything I ate on fitday. I then found Sparkpeople and realized that the online community for this was much bigger than I ever imagined. I had support and found groups that were really helpful. I was able to drop down to 150.

Then I moved to Germany and developed a few food allergies and a knee injury that have made life pretty difficult. Sitting at about 175 now and finally healed, just with a bit more weight on the britches.

But I am not giving up. I have started again and happily am in my second week of a running program and the knee feels great! Now I just have to keep myself from re-injury!

So I am about 4 months away from my 40th birthday. I have set a goal to get back to a healthy, jogging, HAPPY Grace.

- Reduce BF to heathy percent range
- jog regularly 3x week
- workout muscles 2x week
- no evening snacks! Drink Tea instead.

My Program:

Calories: 1200-1550 Honest calories per day in five meals
carbs taper off after 3rd meal

Exercise: Cardio 5x week; weight training 3x week

Water: Minimum 1.5 L
