What are you doing to treat yourself this weekend? You deserve a bit of R&R so I hope you take sometime to relax with family or friends. How about a pedicure to reward your feet for all those wonderful steps you have been taking all week?

If you decide to dine out, remember all is not lost. If you do decide to dine out, one great way to cut your bill (and portion) in half is to split the entrée. Most restaurants have generously sized portions, so splitting it is easy. You won't feel that regretful dread of, "I can't believe I ate the whole thing," and you can share your meal with your sweetie or best friend. I often ask for a to-go container or bring a plastic container from home. As soon as the entrée arrives, I cut everything in half placing one half in the container. Then I have lunch for the next day. So don't feel deprived by skipping a few special occasions . . . just go with a strategy of how to live healthy everyday . . . even on the weekends.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Halloween:

emoticon emoticon

You’ve Been Booed!!!!

The air is cool, the season fall,
Soon Halloween will come to all.
The spooks are after things to do,
In fact, a spook slid right in with some treats for you!

This “Boo” is a shield, to demonstrate
you are a valued SLC Sparker.

On your SP page it is where it works,
It wards off spooks and scary jerks.
The treats, that came with crypted note,
Are yours to keep, enjoy them both.

The power comes when friends like you
Will copy this message and make it THREE!!
Then share it with 3 Salt Lake Sparkers new and old.
Will give warm fuzzies that will not end.
We’ll all have smiles upon our face.

Just one short day to work your spell,
Or a big ZAP will strike your tail!
And don’t forget a nifty treat,
Like something cute or something healthy,

Please join the fun on All Hallow's Eve
Huddle on the SLC Sparkers Team Page
Return that evening for some healthy fun
We will dance to spooky tunes,
We will enjoy a spooky movie,
and healthy treats as we celebrate the
Power of TEAM SPIRIT on

NOW spread some BOO’s and Halloween spirit!
Remember that Together Everyone Achieves More!

Don't slip on the healthy treats I have left for you!

Just dropping by your Spark Page to see how you are doing. The weekend is here and it is time to . . .

emoticon Recharge Our Batteries and Target our Goals . . .

I found the following on the web site and wanted to pass it on to you. I know I found it useful to reflect on my goals and plan for the next week.

"Are you committed to whole living, but occasionally find your devotion flagging? Not to worry: Living up to your ideals takes practice – and, sometimes, even more than that. If your daily habits are sliding away from your goals, today challenge yourself to living yours best life by trying one of the following tactics:"

"Write down specific daily goals for a whole week – Keep them small and manageable and rebuild, moment by moment.

Reward yourself each day you meet those goals – It’s okay to indulge or relax your standards once in a while, but if you earn it first, you’ll feel better.

Freshen your tool box – Communicating with like-minded people and staying up to date on trends in healthy living will revitalize you." (Hence I am leaving this comment on your page . . . since we are "like-minded" in our goal for a healthy lifestyle.)

"Use structure – Sign up for a class, exercise at the start of your day…anything you can do to ritualize your best habits."

emoticon I hope you have a great weekend! emoticon

It is a fruity food fight . . . you've just been hit with a juicy bunch of grapes . . . so enjoy an extra fruit or vegetable today.

As part of the September SLC Sparkers Back 2 School - Back 2 the Basics, I am encouraging everyone to eat a minimum of 5 fruits/vegetables each day . . . 5 a day for improved health! So I have tagged you to start today’s fruity food fight.

emoticon emoticon emoticon Oops those can get messy!

The challenge is for you to eat an extra fruit or vegetable right now . . . then pass on the fruity food fight to another Salt Lake City Sparker. Let's get everyone involved to enjoy some fresh fruits or vegetables before the cool weather puts an end to our delicious local produce.

Remember to join the Team Goal and track your progress on eating 5 fruits/vegetables each and every day! It is key for achieving a healthy lifestyle.
