Summer 2012 goals:

1) Lose 15 pounds by August 31. I started this about two weeks ago and apparently* I've lost 3.4 pounds already. (*I've got one of those cheap electronic scales that sometimes gives multiple readings - but the trend over the past two Saturday weigh-ins has been down, so I know I'm on the right track.)

2) A SparkPeople 5K virtual run the first week of August. Without training I think I could do this in about 33 minutes (I run every once in a while ...

2) A SparkPeople 5K virtual run the first week of August. Without training I think I could do this in about 33 minutes (I run every once in a while and this is about where I'm at). I'd like to improve on this speed, so I plan to go out at least twice a week to work on this. Need to somehow schedule this in with spinning 2x a week and outdoor biking on beautiful summer days...

3) Upper body strength training. I plan to do this three times a week. Thanks to Coach Nicole for her many videos.

My Goals:
I'm an emotional eater, and (with God's help) I'd like to overcome this. Also, I want to eat more mindfully - I tend to inhale my food. I'd like to lose some weight - a byproduct of not eating compulsively.

My Program:
I exercise several times a week. There's a lunchtime jazzercise class, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing during the winter, bicycling... I also have a collection of DVDs. Exercise is a priority for me, and I'm thankful for the flexibility I have in my work and personal life to do this.

Hi Amy,

I avoid buying ice cream too - in the past, I've told myself I can have it in the house & I'll limit myself to 1/2 cup daily. But then I decide I can correctly estimate my serving size, & before long, I'm eating probably a cup or more each time. So as much as I love it, I have to wait & have it when visiting someone who can control the leftovers!

Hopefully, you're not getting too much rain from Isaac - so many are still suffering from floods that "he" caused!
