On my way back to 180...

My name is Rich. I'm a 32 year old guy trying to rediscover the elusive 180lbs that I left 10 years ago. Years of graduate school stress (and subsequent libations) coupled with 3 years in the office cube farm (full of temptation) left me at an all-time high weight of 257 lbs. I've decided that now is the time I have to dig my heels in to change my life.

I moved to Portland, OR in July, 2011, via Atlanta, GA. Portland has been good to me thus far in terms of living a healthier lifestyle. So far, I've lost almost 30lbs since February 2011. I still have a long way to go until I reach my goal, but I'm proud of the progress I've made thus far.

I'm still looking to connecting with some Portland Sparkers! I hope that sharing my story and being a point of support in this great network might help someone else on their journey.

My Goals:
My ultimate goal is to get back to 180lbs by the end of summer 2012 by losing 1.5lbs per week. I started this journey in February, 2011 at 257lbs. Here's are my goals and milestones:

250 lbs - 4/5/2011
240 lbs - 9/4/2011
230 lbs - 10/22/2011
220 lbs
210 lbs
200 lbs

Complete a 5k - 3/2010
Run a 5k non-stop - 12/2011
Mile run in under 12 - 12/2011

My Program:
Giving up my worst offenders - Fried foods and pastries.

Eating a balanced diet and using the SparkPeople food tracker to log.

Making time to cook.

Getting at least 30 minutes of exercise every day.

I'm originally from the South but now live in Portland, OR where I work for a tech firm.
