Taking back my health

THE NEW ME 2013. I HAVE SOME HEALTH CHALLENGES BUT I DO NOT LET THEM CONTROL ME OR USE THEM AS A EXCUSE. I WORK THUR THEM AND ON THEM. I HAVE LEARNED TO ENJOY AND LOVE EXERCISE. ALTHOUGH STRENGTHENING NEEDS TO BE WORKED ON.

DISTRACTION LIST TO GUARD AGAINST EMOTIONAL EATING


1. Distance myself from the desired food. Go outside etc. Go window shopping at my fav thrift store.


2. Chewing gum or drink green tea. Drink low cal or no cal beverage like green teas, club soda, water with fruit slices. you would be surprised how a few fruit slices changes the tastes of water. . (At present time I am in my 5rd round of BLC and I am off one of my medications that lower blood sugars.) I have lost next to 15 pounds pounds. I have to stay on guard. I have recently found out that even my met combo meds can make me have a low blood sugar reaction. CRUD! So here is my plan for that...If I feel a low coming on I will allow (Unless I have already eating and know it is not time to eat and I know my blood sugars are not low) I will use food from my free list if lightly hungry but if I am starving. try a small apple, veggie plate-- of broccoli, carrots celery peppers, cherry tomatoes, lettuce or boiled egg whites with grapes, cucumbers slices with FF LC ranch dressing or laughing cow cheese with light salted rice cakes, or 1/2 cup applesauce sugar free or a small fruit like blueberries and make a small smoothie made with light almond milk with a little vanilla favoring a few coconut flakes. I will use this technique: Over come craving sweets by sucking on lemons salty by: eating a pickle, Garlicky or spicy desired of foods by: Chewing gum (mint) tic tacs mints and peppermint candy sugar free only allotting myself 1-2 pieces.


3. Exercise-- 10 min session of pilates for relaxing--yoga if possible, slow walking, deep breathing, Cleaning out closets or my bed room dresser drawer or re-organize it.Go thur my craft boxes and organize and clean it out. I have found out that I soon forget about eating afterwards.

4. Pray believing God will take me thur this time of testing or trial. Develop and use victory verses of the bible over temptation. devotions. I found a healing ministry dvd that will soothe any negative thoughts. Stinking thinking can get you into trouble. I refuse!

5. Cleaning/scrubbing floors, tub etc.

6. Do self care like napping, facials, use tea bags or cucumber sliced on eyes. Yes tea bags and cucumber slices are great on puffy and tired eyes. They feel cool and refreshing. Pedicures or manicures. .


7. Do crocheted projects. Keeping my hands busy really helps and I love crocheting anyway. I have made several crocheted projects including jewelry. I have also made jewelry from beading and wire works. I like having pieces that I have made with my own hands .

8. Go shopping--window shop for inexpensive items.or Leave the room.



MY SKILLS FOR COMBATING STRESS.


1. AS A MOM OF A SPECIAL NEEDS TEENAGER (OF WHICH HE IS ONE OF THE JEWELS OF MY EYES) I NEED DOWN TIME. TO COLLECT MYSELF BEFORE PUTTING A SPOON TO MY MOUTH. REMOVING MYSELF FROM THE STRESSFUL SITUATION IF POSSIBLE.

2. PRAYER AND QUOTING SCRIPTURE TO THE SITUATION
LIFE AND DEATH IS IN THE POWER OF THE TONGUE.

3. IF TIRED TAKE A CAT NAP.

5. FOR AN EXTREMELY STRESSFUL DAY PILATES AND YOGA HELPS OUT.

6. REMEMBER AND REMIND MYSELF THAT FOOD IS NOT THE ANSWER.

PLENTY OF FRESH fREGGIES JUICED AND RAW INCLUDED. REDUCE REFINED GRAINS, LIMIT SUGAR SUBSTITUTES. ATTETMPT TO HVE 35-40 GRAMS OF FIBER. 6-10 GLASSES OF H20. INCLUDE OATMEAL 3-5 DAYS FOR BREAKFAST. TO BED AT 11:00 USE TEAS AND SELF CARE FOR STRESS ALONG WITH PRAYER, EXERCISE FOR 6 DAYS A WEEK, IE AEROBICS , STATIONARY BIKING, TREADMILL, PILATES, YOGA AND WEIGHTS. I love crocheting, and have LEARNED TO READ PATTERNS BETTER! I work beads and wire works. I love making my own spins on the designs especially if Changing them up my wasy! . I have given items to my family and close friends. I enjoy looking for new crocheting patterns and new beading designs some with wire. I am a christain who loves reading Gods word. I love start gazing and have been known to zap on a coat in the winter time to see the stars. I think winter times is the best time to view the stars.

Thanks so much for the support! How are you guys doing? I don't have any specific eating plan, I did my low carb plan for a little over a month but I'm just going to go back to straight calorie counting. With my "minute goals" I am just trying to make sure I find balance. I need to find time to get my house clean and do my exercise and I need to get my food in check. My food is the most important thing and I am trying very hard to get it under control, eek!

Hi there... thanks for stopping by and commenting on my blog.

Re: the cravings... I don't have cravings because of the low carb diet. I quit all sugar ... I have a ferocious sweet tooth and have no off switch when it comes to candy, cookies... desserts, etc.... so I had to give it all up.... I am not saying that I will never have another piece of cake, but it will be on my terms and not just because it is in my face. I will plan on eating what I want, don't take it home and leave it at that!
I am following the paleo/primal lifestyle, so far this seems to be what works for me in terms of losing weight and improving my LDL, triglycerides and cholesterol levels.

Hi! Thanks for stopping by my page! I am sorry to hear you got scared by your Dr. I am currently following the Zone Diet by Dr Barry Sears. It is a moderate diet that brings the right hormonal response. In my opinion, it is a very doable and sustainable diet were nothing is of limits. I am not into ketogenic diets as that kind of diet raises cortisol an thus inflammation. The Zone Diet is non-ketogenic where healing can happen. I also take 8 grams of fish oil a day to fight inflammation and my diabetes. The Anti-inflammatory Zone Diet book is the best! Check it out. Besides, I had such trouble thinking carbs are the enemy where Jesus said, I am the bread of life in John 6:35. I am praying for you!
