Welcome to my Sparks Page!

My name is Gil Matthews, my goal over the next year is to lose 80 pounds. I have been a member of SP since 2008 and was residing in Sterling Va. and I am currently residing in Daytona Beach, FL. A lot has happened to me over the last few years’ health wise and have been inactive with SP for a while. I am a retired USAF Officer and Viet Nam Vet plagued with an abundance of Agent Orange conditions. I am Type 2 Diabetic, have had a triple by-pass, have extensive nerve damage in both legs and feet and triple AAA just to name a few. Overall I feel pretty good but I am obese and need to get the weight off. I was doing well before all my medical problems arose and its time it get back in the saddle. This is an outstanding health and fitness site and has all the tools anyone can ask for tracking nutrition fitness and motivation education. My other goal besides losing weight is to develop a healthy eating lifestyle that I can live by. I am currently familiarizing myself with the website due to all the great new changes that have been made. My New Start Date is 1 July 2014 I am looking forward to communicating with many of you down the road.

my name is Gil Matthews,single,retired USAF military officer and disabled Viet Nam vet. I'm 69 and reside in Daytona Beach, FL. I have type 2 diabetes, have had a triple by pass, extensive nerve damage in both legs, and triple AAA due to Agent Orange and severe arthritis in my left knee. I am currently doing the Paleo diet. My main goal is to lose 80 pounds over the next year. This is an awsome site and has all the tools one can ask for. Looking forward to meeting many of you down the road.

Hi Gil, and welcome to our Managing Diabetes Group where you will receive lots of support and encouragement from everyone. Remember to just take one day at a time on this journey of a lifetime. This journey consists of many small steps, a few speed bumps and pot holes, and a lot of fun. I will be here for you and try to help you on this journey to your goals.
You have come to the right place. Take advantage of what Spark has to offer. I want to see you accomplish your goal(s). Stay focused and keep a positive attitude as this will be a great help to you in your daily life!!! Smile although sometimes that is the hardest, but it really helps!!! And, if nothing else, it makes people wonder what you're up to.
It's good to meet and have you with us.
