I'm tired of being fat. And I'm finally ready to do something about it!! Here is where my journey begins...

I heard a weight loss center commercial one time and the lady on it said, "I wasted too much time being fat!" - that is EXACTLY how I feel! Being fat is a waste of time. I have so much else I want to do in life, but being fat holds me back. It keeps me from feeling confident and secure and happy the way I want to feel. It makes me self-conscious and keeps me from being comfortable around others. It distracts me from being able to serve and love others the way I want to. I am ready to kick this habit and start living my life the way I want to, instead of letting my weight control me!

I'm trying to kickstart my change by reading The Body Fat Solution by Tom Venuto. I had low expectations, but so far it is actually really good (I think I'm in chapter 4 ot 5). The chapter on changing beliefs is RIGHT ON for me. THAT is what I am going to start working on FIRST!

My Goals:
* Be able to get down on the floor and play with my children without feeling achy and having to groan when I get up.

* Be able to run and play and have fun with my little ones.

* Be able to dance with my husband.

* Be able to be intimate with my husband without being insecure and embarrassed.

* Correct my posture (and therefore fewer back and neck problems)!! Right now I have some bad posture habits because of trying to hide my fat!

* Be able to run a 5k

My Program:
1) Read Tom Venuto's book The Body Fat Solution

2) Start daily journaling my food on SP

3) Read Love to Eat, Hate to Eat

4) Start doing pilates... at least 3x/week.

    I appreciate your support and encouragement! And you're right...I shouldn't let her define my run...I'm the one out there..I know how I'm running...

    If you want to start running you can totally do it! I never considered myself a runner...but I started Wii Fit got alot of workout before I took my running outside...just remember to start slow. emoticon

    Thanks so much for the medal. I loved your comments. As I reflect on it over the past few days I have more pride in it and think I definitely earned it and shouldn't diminish by thinking I only got it because I was the only one in the category. It's still a big personal accomplishment. All my life I've kind of discounted what I accomplish and I'm learning to stop doing that to myself.

    Thanks for stopping by my blog. Starting to run has been something that took a while to really get into for me. When the time is right for you you'll know it. Even if you never reach that point, it's about finding what motivates you. I don't mean that in a discouraging way, just that you may find something you like even better. Time will tell if my knees and hips will hold up to it. I'm hoping they do. But if they don't then there will be something else for me to do. My absolute favorite form of physical fitness is still hiking. Some find bicycling or rowing or skiing, or who knows what opportunities are out there. And if you do decide you want to run, I'll be here to support you. And if you don't, I'll still be here to support you in whatever you do. I never would have thought even 6 months ago that this would be something I want to try. It's just amazing what opportunities are out there! I also thought I would like to try kayaking someday, but I'd have to travel to do that one! No lakes or real rivers near me. But who knows what the future holds. As we travel on this adventure we find things we never would have thought of before. Just be open to yourself and keep walking forward one step at a time. And who knows, maybe one day we'll get to meet up at some event and run it together!!!! We both have a journey before us.
