Hi, I'm around 52 years old (my daughter keeps track of that stuff), Type 2 diabetic and looking to live a healthier lifestyle.

My Goals:
This is a toughie because I recently met the only real goal that I had, that of working up to walking a 20 minute mile over the course of my 2 mile daily walk. I'm a little lost when it comes to specific goals beyond that...I guess, for now, simply continuing with my scheduled walks, at a pace that will bring positive results, continuing to make improvements in my portion sizes and choices of food, and not giving in to apathy, or boredom with my walking, continuing to explore new ways to keep myself interested and moving. Develop some low impact strength training to use on the days that I don't walk. I feel that I am nearly ready to attempt something like that without injury.

My Program:
Get up in the morning and do what I need to do regardless of how bad the body hurts today. This includes walking or other exercises, checking in with SparkFriends and Teams, tracking my food, and exersizes, trying to force down a few glasses of water (I used to LOVE the stuff, right now...not so much. Saying "Howdy" to new faces...anything that'll keep me focused on living a healthier life than I have been.

    Daughters are a great help. My younger daughter and youngest child is a Registered Dietitian and she was the third RD I had been exposed to. The first came into the hospital room wearig leather and a whip and said no more and never again and I was in my late 40's early 50's and while DW said amen to every negative order, I blew her off. The second came in after my first knee replacement and talked 30 minutes and took three breaths. I cannot listen that fast. DD emailed me a "request" that when I decided to take control of my life again that the attached program (SP) was a great tool. After about two years I began to believe her and life is much better.

    Hi and Thanks for visiting my page and adding me as a friend, I really need the encouragement to keep going here so you are appreciated. I can relate to getting up and doing what needs to be done no matter how bad the body hurts. Used to make fun of my parents thinking why are they moving so slow...now I know first hand. emoticon
